Slow 5Ghz speed.

I got a nice shiny Hub One and everything is fine apart from transfers over the 5Ghz network.

I can't get anymore than around 14MB/s (120Mbps ish?)  which is way below what it should be capable of.

I have confirmed it is using 5Ghz as I disabled 2.4Ghz just to be sure, I also made sure no other access points in the area, I checked its set at the highest rate (1300Mbps) and the card in the machine is capable of 867Mbps. (Network status on the machine shows it is actually connected at 867Mbps)

Copying from one machine to another seems to produce a slow rate, one machine is on the gigabit wired and confirmed to be running at gigabit as I get at least 100MB/s if I use wire to both machines.

The only thing I have noticed when I am copying is there is a very high pitched squeal coming from the router which goes after the transfer completes, is it broken and need replacing already ?

* Card is internal to laptop:  Intel Dual Band Wireless-AC 7260 Rated upto 867Mbps... (it connects at 867Mbps and I can sit infront of the router or about 2m away and still retain that, so not a range issue.)

***Edited to include card model***

***Edited to include iperf results.***

Wired Gigabit between both machines

Wireless 5Ghz Client to wired Gigabit server. (the speed is majorly different)

Re: Slow 5Ghz speed.

Just some thoughts.  Have you configured the Hub One to use channel 36 ?

Is the transfer speed slow in both directions, LAN <-> wifi ?

Re: Slow 5Ghz speed.

real world testing of the Intel AC 7260 http://www.legitreviews.com/intel-7260hmwg-802-11ac-versus-intel-7260hmw-bn-802-11n_135541

Might be best to use the Intel forums as there are many threads about speeds on the AC7260 like

Re: Slow 5Ghz speed.

Thanks for the replys Smiley

I forced it to channel 40 which means it actually is using the 80Mhz width which I confirmed by looking in event log:

(124199.970000) WiFi manually selected 80M channel 40

The speed is slower LAN to wireless, by about 40Mbps.

I had sort of ruled out the intel card as being the issue due to it actually connecting at the correct speed unlike in them posts where they are getting the incorrect connection speed (144mbps etc..)

I have a post going on the TBB forums and so far the only conclusion I have come to is that this is the real world speed for this router...

240Mbps from the server and 306Mbps to the server...
