Re: Can my plusnet router be set to auto reboot on failed ping

@geraldwy - define 'viable'?

Difficult to shake the impression that you're not prepared to consider alternative solutions to your 'problem', rather you have decided on one solution and one solution only - and it's something you don't want to pay for nor invest any DIY effort to achieve.

Unless I've misunderstood, your requirement is the ability to restore a partially broken Internet connection/home network by rebooting your router remotely. Many have offered potential solutions. I myself suggested three: -

  • VPN on your home network
  • Home Assistant integration
  • ESP and relay hardware solution

Others have also suggested: -

  • Third party router with WAN detection/failover
  • Scheduled powercycle using third party router, timed power switch or smartplug
  • Mobile failover
  • Amazon 'Keep Connect' smartplug
  • Second line for redundancy

All of which you have rejected for one reason or another.

Things are getting a little silly, so I'm going to summarise/hopefully wrap things up by succinctly answering a paraphrased version of your original question: -

Can my (Plusnet) router be set up to auto reboot if its frequent pings fail (without me spending any money or investing any time building a solution)

No.

Re: Can my plusnet router be set to auto reboot on failed ping

OK so now I ask for evidence of your claim its already gone from being a fact to an impression.. From viable solutions to alternative solutions.
I like how you have masterly edited without my responses and instead of giving each one individually which would show I have responded to them with discussion. However point 1 how is a vpn or home assistant going to work when there's a issue with the Internet./ router? I will wait for you to explain.
As for third party router I clearly said is this possible as I didnt think plusnet allow this. Please explain how that is a rejection and I will wait for your answer.
I clearly asked for a automatic reboot solution to an immediate issue so please explain how scheduled reboots is a viable solution and I'll wait for your response.
There was no mobile over solution apart from me suggesting I saw a sim smart plug in reference to my previous post but ideally would prefer to avoid the additional cost of a sim. This was not discrediting this route but looking at an option that doesn't cost monthly. Do you perceive this logic unreasonable and it was my suggestion not anyones? I'll wait for your response.
I clearly said I had seen keep and ez outlet prior to posting the question and posted the question because of their cost but even then I didn't reject I just said its too expensive . Can you explain how that's a solution suggested when it was already considered prior to posting?
A second line is more cost however I didn't reject anything.
I'll summarise that I suspect you just have a grievance against me putting that huge email without validity. Maybe your mates with the first guy or some previous issue. . I don't know but let's hear your responses.
