Fritzbox 7530 AX

I currently have a Plusnet VDSL connection to my home with a Hub 2 router. I'm now thinking to changing the router to a FritzBox 7530 AX, which has tons of advanced features such as built-in Wireguard Server, etc. I'm also not happy that Hub 2 cannot separate 2.4G and 5.0G SSIDs and there is no guest WiFi mode. But before I make the leap could anyone who use the 7530 AX give me any feedback on how happy you are with this router? I would also like to know how easy it is to connect to the Plusnet VDSL connection? Thanks in advance!

Re: Fritzbox 7530 AX

@tcoombs2101 For what it’s worth I’ve had a Fritzbox 7530 (NOT AX) for about 18 months, and I’m well pleased with it, especially as I only paid £35 for it from CEX. I have used it on Plusnet FTTC & currently FTTP with no issues at all. I also use it for VOIP, again no problems.

The only downside is it’s USB2 (as is the 7530AX). Also in my case the DECT although it works fine doesn’t support a couple of features on my ancient BT big button phone.

Like you I prefer to separate 2.4G and 5.0G, never tried the VPN feature but I am tempted.

I do have a Hub2 – in it’s box in the loft in case of line problems, I believe Plusnet are more able to check for line faults from a Hub2 ?

If you buy s/h all the ones I’ve seen are ex ZEN and have TR069 but this can easily be removed and the device returned to it’s original state. However it still works OK without.

@tcoombs2101

Like @Batfrog I have the non AX version which I bought a couple of months ago from CEX. Yoiu need to do a Factory reset which is done via the router interface (rather than the machine).

Once that's done you set it up with you PN credentials. As it's the router of choice for Zen Internet there Help pages detail what's required.

Once you're in, it's up to you what features you use.
