BT Home Hub 6 Conflicting WiFi status on home screen and settings screen

Woke up this morning to no WiFi

I have re-entered all the Wi-Fi passwords and selected the usual settings for 2.4 & 5.0 GHz. I have allowed the router to select the best channels, but still no Wi-Fi. Anything hard wired i.e. Sonos is working OK

I have however noticed that the hub manager home page says Wi-Fi status is OFF, yet the dedicated wireless settings page says the Wi-Fi is on.

I have done a master reset numerous times, but to avail.

I have (hopefully) attached a couple of screen shots for clarity.

Cheers

@THETESTER

A screen grab of the Advanced wireless settings might help. Obscure personal details before posting.

Re: BT Home Hub 6 Conflicting WiFi status on home screen and settings screen

Hi Baldrick1

Just had to temp use the Plusnet router as the wife is on a zoom call at tea time. As soon as she is done I will get the screen grabs from the BT hub and post.

Cheers

Re: BT Home Hub 6 Conflicting WiFi status on home screen and settings screen

Sorry for the delay, I have had a solid green light on the BT hub 6 for most of the day. Finally it has turned blue and I have been able to get the info you requested.

Internet is fine, but still no Wi-Fi.

Screen grab attached.

Cheers

@THETESTER A quick google shows that you're not the only one with a similar problem

Seems like a faulty Hub...

Re: BT Home Hub 6 Conflicting WiFi status on home screen and settings screen

I had done a bit of "googling" to see if anybody else had the problem just as you have said. Nobody however appeared to offer up a solution other than a dead router. I have turned the bands on/off numerous times, separated them, turned smart setup on/off to all to no avail. I am currently using the PN hub, but Wi-Fi range is atrocious. Probably time to visit the internet auction site for a BT smart hub 2 or are there better options available from the likes of TP-Link etc.

Re: BT Home Hub 6 Conflicting WiFi status on home screen and settings screen

@THETESTER

The screenshot shows that you have made changes that have not been saved. Have you tried saving them?

It's quite possible that your hub has a fault but one faulty unit does not mean that you should go for a Smarthub 2. In terms of performance there is no significant difference. Unless you have a separate WiFi satellite mesh unit to go with it the only real difference is that with Smarthub 2 you lose the option of separating the 2.4 and 5GHz bands.

There are many Tp-Link modem/routers to choose from, it depends on your budget.

Re: BT Home Hub 6 Conflicting WiFi status on home screen and settings screen

Hi Baldrick1

I have tried everything I can think of. I potentially may not have saved the changes when I did the screen grab. I have carried on playing with the settings but still no avail.

I just require the hub for basic internet and streaming the odd thing on catch-up etc, I am not a gamer, so nothing hi spec, but something that works.
