Re: Problems setting up BT Wholehome

thank you.  I turned Wi Fi Privacy to OFF and now I have the master disc connected and a steady blue light.  I have turned on the next disc and placed it close to the first and the router and it is stuck on purple - anyone have any ideas ?  Thank you all so much

Re: Problems setting up BT Wholehome

Unfortunately, I think this means the disc is faulty.
Looking at other posts on the BT forum there is no fix https://community.bt.com/t5/BT-Devices/Whole-Home-Wifi-Disc-Light-Stuck-on-Solid-Purple/td-p/2355498

Probably give it another factory reset. It may be faulty but it's worth resetting it again and having another go.

It's also worth turning the first disk off,  powering the second disk up using the connections you had for the first one (power and network) and having a go at setting this second disk as master.

If there were a fault, one possibility is that the fault is the power adaptor.

Also you have a third disk. Will that join the first one?

I am the satisfied customer....

Re: Problems setting up BT Wholehome

Thanks but it’s been reset and reset and reset, so has the hub.  I have tried all the discs as master, I have tried connecting to each other by ethernet, I have tried all three power adapters.  There is no combination of hub, discs, ethernet cables and power adaptors that will allow them to work.

After trying for the whole of Friday afternoon and evening, all day Saturday and evening and most of Sunday with help from the people here on this forum and also a major tech wizard in real life I have now decided that the only logical explanation is that one or all of the discs are faulty.

I bought them from an online marketplace last week.  The seller offers no returns however since I believe they are faulty I have initiated a return on this basis and will wait to see what happens since I can’t really afford to write them off having spent £150 on them.

Thanks for everyone’s help.

Re: Problems setting up BT Wholehome

Unfortunately that's way over priced for a product that was discontinued several years ago with better alternatives brand new for the same or not much more.
Also raise it with the marketplace, they should have a process to get your money back.

Re: Problems setting up BT Wholehome

A returns request already started so I’ll wait to see what happens.  As to the price - that’s pretty much the going rate on the marketplace for them, didn’t see any cheaper except broken ones.

I’d be interested to know what the better alternatives new are though

Re: Problems setting up BT Wholehome

As an example, I got these https://www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B09MFWNYC3?th=1 brand new.
Not saying they are right for you, but an example of what’s available.
All the whole home sets will be second hand and have no warranty.
