Last night, members of the Plusnet team headed off to York Racecourse to attend the annual York Press Business Awards. As we reported earlier in the week, Plusnet sponsored The Best Business and Community Link Award this year and last night we presented the accolade to Pocklington Arts Centre, a thriving venue in a small market town in North Yorkshire. The venue is run through a support network of 300 volunteers and is attracting international acts from the world of music and comedy, to perform at the centre – a massive congratulations to the team there and long may your success continue! Pocklington Arts Centre were shortlisted alongside York Racecourse and Benenden Health – all deserved nominees, doing outstanding things within their community. Plusnet believes it is important to enable staff to contribute to the community in which they live and that as a business, making contributions to your local community should be about people a and generating a sense of pride, not simply a corporate exercise. We offer staff half a day each, on top of their annual leave, to volunteer to support a charity of their choice. How does your company get involved in its local community? Let us know by leaving a comment below.
