Plusnet charity round-up

Roundabout logo. Plusnet is proud to announce that Sheffield homeless charity, Roundabout, is the company’s official charity for the forthcoming year. As we look forward to the fun and games of fundraising over the course of the next 12 months, we thought you’d like to see how our staff have been raising money for a number of good causes in recent months ...

What we've been up to

Plusnet recently donated over £11K to Sheffield Children’s Hospital after it was selected as our chosen charity 2011/12. Events held to raise the cash included sponsored silences, giving our bosses a soaking through a wet sponge throw-a-thon, a charity birthday bash and housewarming party! Plusnet’s leadership team even got stuck in by completing a gruelling coast-to-coast bike ride raising a not-too-shabby £5k.

Plusnet and Pudsey

Just last week Plusnet employees raised a fantastic total of £867.87 for Children in Need by holding a number of events throughout the day including a 'bake-off', sponsored fancy dress, a bring-and-by sale as well as taking on the the Plusnet Leadership Team at table-tennis. Feast your eyes on the Plusnet Children in Need Bake-off. Pitting paddle skills against the Leadership Team. Staff are now taking on the challenge of raising £10K for Roundabout’s emergency hostel refurbishment appeal, launched in September. Events planned so far include a Christmas party, a staff lottery and numerous raffles where staff can win an extra day’s holiday.

Charity begins at Plusnet

To kick-start, (or should we say tip-off?), the fundraising for Roundabout, a girls vs boys netball match took place a couple of weeks ago. It was a hard fought contest which saw the boys scrape the victory with a final score of 12 to 11. This was coupled with a Halloween fancy dress and another cake sale (can you tell we like cake?). At the core of Plusnet’s fundraising is the Plusnet Charity Committee, who are charged with thinking up and organising unique and effective ways of collecting cash for good causes. Natalie Steinborn, Chair of Plusnet’s Charity Committee, commented:

“We are so lucky that staff here at Plusnet are always willing to get stuck in when it comes to charity events. Everyone works really hard here yet they can always find a little time to support a worthy cause.”

Keep your eyes peeled for further news throughout the year on how we get on with our fundraising efforts for Roundabout.
