Plusnet can reveal that The Jane Tomlinson Appeal is to be the company’s official Charity of the Year 2014. Our staff are asked each year to decide the charity they would collectively like to raise funds for and it was The Appeal topped the staff vote this year. The decision further cements the links between ourselves and the charity. Plusnet already sponsors the Yorkshire Marathon, which this year takes place on October 12th and is organised by the same team responsible for the successful Jane Tomlinson Run For All 10K series. Throughout the year we will raise money by organising a series of events and taking part in the Jane Tomlinson Run For All Leeds, York, Hull and Pennine Lancashire 10Ks. Under the new partnership, we will also provide logistical, technical and other support to the charity wherever possible. Siobhan Curtis, Jane Tomlinson Appeal legacy manager, said:
“This is tremendous news. “We are enormously grateful to all the Plusnet staff who voted for us to be their official charity for 2014. “We are looking forward to this partnership which will benefit many good causes. Money raised for the Appeal goes to support children’s and cancer charities across the region.”
Andy Baker, Plusnet CEO said,
“Plusnet employees look forward to getting involved in fundraising events and many have already bravely pledged to run the Plusnet Yorkshire Marathon 2014, to raise funds for the remarkable Appeal. “With the new office in Leeds now open and our employment presence growing across Yorkshire it seems fitting that we have chosen to support a charity which benefits charities across our region.”
