England misses out on the 2018 World Cup with everyone watching

We've missed out on the chance to host the 2018 football World Cup to Russia :-(, but I'm sure you already know this as everyone was watching the announcement live on the BBC iPlayer! iPlayer traffic jumped to almost 3Gbits/s at 3pm today as the announcement was made, the bandwidth usage graph above shows the dramatic spike in traffic. iPlayer traffic has been slightly up over the last couple of days during the day, call me a cynic, but I think this is down to the number of people 'working' from home because of the snow!

Good (about the football) - it means less money wasted on white elephant stadiums.

Dave doesn't like the snow and is off lounging on a sunny beach in some far away country closer to the equator!
