Hi,
I've noticed my internet connection will randomly pause/hang
this is WiFi or cabled devices, it isn't long enough or predicable enough to plan to test what is happening.
my wired desktop PC will either fail to find a website or a locally hosted service on my home server,
WiFi devices will either in the case of "smart" ones fail to connect and need to be reconfigured again
they are various brands as I've been trying to debug this. other devices such as TVs will pause for a moment.
it is almost like a failure in DNS (it is always DNS), but I have tried manually setting them in the router and on the devices to use google or cloud flare and I can't say it helped any
I have factory reset all the devices and removed special characters form the WiFi SSID as I saw in one post some smart devices don't like them.
I noticed this before I moved house in September but I put it down to the horrible 1960s Faraday cage of a flat killing the WiFi.
we have since moved and it is worse.
I did have a open reach guy visit as we had slow internet but he just suggests replacing any cables with a CAT 6 or above and I have done this and most of the "slowness" has gone.
I'm left thinking it is the router.
I'm non verbal so before I submit myself to the hell of using assistive tech to call the call center
is there anything I can do without speaking to someone ?
before I

It sounds like the router is failing and restarting. Do you have a spare power supply that you could try?

@yorkshiregeek To expand on @mystreet1 's comment - if you have a PN Hub2, could you please export the event log and attach the resulting .csv file to a post - this will give us an idea of what is happening (hopefully).

Thanks for the log, @yorkshiregeek . As it is now 9PM, do you mind if I look at it early tomorrow morning when my brain is a little more with it?

Acid check for this - do the lights change colour on the router?
If yes, it’s a loss of PPP or xDSL, if no, it’s something else.

I will keep an eye out tonight and tomorrow, I can't say I have noticed it but I wasn't looking for it either.

You appear to have both a DSL and WAN connection.
If you have a copper connection (phone line) you need to disconnect the device connected to the WAN port
Edit: if Full Fibre remove the DSL cable

What is on port 3?
It is up and down like a yoyo.

Good spot, @Dan_the_Van - I missed that last night.

Thanks for confirming no DSL connection, something odd is happening as I see many of these messages
I was looking at the event log on my pixel 7 using google sheets so it's not clear what was happening clearly.
I now see the full message
16:40:23, 25 Oct. WAN Auto-sensing last connection port: DSL WAN
It is difficult to get a clear picture for this history of this hub as the event log has many messages with old ones being deleted
Has this HUb always been yours or is it a replacement?
Recent restart sequence
16:40:42, 25 Oct. WAN Auto-sensing detected port Ethernet WAN
16:40:37, 25 Oct. Booting firmware v0.10.00.04201-PN (Thu Apr 20 16:54:19 2023)
16:40:37, 25 Oct. System start Button press (PowerButton)
16:40:37, 25 Oct. System up
16:40:23, 25 Oct. WAN Auto-sensing last connection port: DSL WAN

17:46:38, 28 Oct. DHCP device Disconnected: 192.168.1.148, ae:54:32:65:2b:6b, sati
17:46:37, 28 Oct. A device disconnected from Ethernet port 3
This device does not have a stable connection, what is it?
Do you have any Wireless Access Points or Wireless repeaters?
If you are happy to, I would suggest a factory reset of the Hub so we have a clear starting point to diagnose what is happening with the Hub
The factory reset button is next to the Hubs power socket, you'll need a paper clip or sim card remover tool to push the button in, hold in until the Hubs light goes green

DSL port - nothing connected.
There are always potential semantics in words… in respect of the WAN port on the hub 2 I have observed that plugging in an Ethernet cable which is not connected to anything (at the other end) will still cause the router to attempt to start the EAN interface.
Can you please affirm that there’s no cable in the xDSL port.
Are you using all 3 LAN ports? If not move the cable in 3 to one of the others, or swap 3 and another. Then look to see if the problem follows the switch (or remains on 3).
