Re: Using the BT Smarthub 6 on a Plusnet Account

Gah, it's happened again. Solid orange light on the BT Hub6, so again I'm temporarily back to the old Plusnet Hub1 (so I'm getting internet). I'm sure I read of the way to obtain a Hub2 from Plusnet? Is this my best option?

Thanks.

@Ben1

When your contract is up for renewal then ring the customer options team on 0800 013 2632 and ask for one. Alternatively you can pay about £100.
Personally I would have thought that reconnecting the Smarthub was less hassle than returning to a Hub 1.

I see, I think I will take the first option in that case. I will follow my own procedure from a few weeks ago. Many thanks

Re: Using the BT Smarthub 6 on a Plusnet Account

…and again! No service on broadband. Both routers (Plusnet Hub 1 and BT 6) I’ve tried separately aren’t progressing past the orange light stage. I’m wondering if it’s the phone line or something.

I have gone though the connection process but I couldn't connect. I will try again tomorrow when I will be fresh.

Re: Using the BT Smarthub 6 on a Plusnet Account

Hi

My BT Business Smart Hub 6 - Type A   - BT BHub6      has  3 ethernet ports +  one Red WAN port.   and one J11 Telephone/Broadband port

Can this Router be used to connect to Virgin BT  FTTP ?

@Empire Virgin or BT ?- they are totally different networks and it won't work on Virgin.

Re: Using the BT Smarthub 6 on a Plusnet Account

My BT Smarthub 6 router definitely  works on BT  but would like to know is can that/this router work on BT or Plusnet FTTP  and/or any other networks

i have unlimited fibre with Plusnet  it works on that perfectly.

Re: Using the BT Smarthub 6 on a Plusnet Account

Ah, a slightly easier one to answer. yes, it will work on Plusnet connections (FTTC or FTTP), but not on Virgin/Altnets. AFAIK, but @Baldrick1 is the best one to confirm this, it will not work on other ISPs running over the OpenReach network, either.

Re: Using the BT Smarthub 6 on a Plusnet Account

@Empire

It all depends on the model of Smarthub 6. If it has four yellow LAN sockets then it will not work on full fibre. If it has 3 yellow LAN sockets and one with a RED label saying WAN then it will work on a BT or Plusnet service if you use that socket to connect to the ONT.
