Re: Printer not accepting password/key

AH, I see. I've already tried that, getting the same result I'm afraid.

Re: Printer not accepting password/key

Indeed, USB cable only to facilitate a set-up.

Was the old router a HUB2?

Will the HP printer set up using WPS (not using a PIN)?

Which HP printer? EDIT: Epson XP-3200

I would try the following approaches...

  1. Switch off the 5GHz SSID
  2. Try again - entering the key if you must, using WPS press button if you can
  3. Try changing the modes
  4. When working, set mode 1 again, switch on 5GHz and verify all is still OK

Re: Printer not accepting password/key

Will try those options, thank you.

In the meantime the Printer is an Epsom XP3200 (all in one) inkjet.

Re: Printer not accepting password/key

Can you configure it using the smart phone app?

Re: Printer not accepting password/key

I have also tried that, even uninstalling and re-installing the app, no joy there either. I'm sure this is where the problem lies...

Security Key/Password Check. FAIL. Security Key/Password not recognised (Even though the printer shows the SSID).

Re: Printer not accepting password/key

Out of the box thinking - change the WiFi password in the router to something less fiddly.

You will also need to change the WiFi setting in the PC, but it might get you past this issue.

The printer will show the SSID, but that does not mean it is connected.

Are you entering the security key on the printer?

Does WPS work?

Was the old router a Plusnet HUB2?

Re: Printer not accepting password/key

Yes, I'm entering the key via printer buttons. (No other option given).

WPS keeps asking for 4 number pin. (Can't seem to bypass that one).

Yes, old router was Hub2.

Not sure what router this new one is, but instead of the line across the bottom that lit up, this one has a circle in the middle.

Re: Printer not accepting password/key

Your old router was a Hub1, what you have now is a Hub2.

From that description, the old router was actually a Hub 1, the new one is a Hub 2.

@Pete11 can you confirm that you've actually tried with the 5ghz wifi disabled on the Hub 2 ?

Re: Printer not accepting password/key

I haven't got to that bit yet, it's been a busy day so far...but I'm getting to it. I'm slowly working through all suggestions given so far.

If all else fails, printer reset (or big hammer from shed) is on the cards.

Re: Printer not accepting password/key

Not sure, but I'm approx 2 miles from Hemsworth West Yorkshire. Doesn't look that far looking from a map.

Re: Printer not accepting password/key

Far enough for me to discount my thought. You are closer to Leeds, and I don't drive.

Neither do I, unless you include mobility scooters. 🤣
