Re: Mesh Network

Would be helpful if you could tell us your use case scenario, type of building you live in, devices etc.

Once you provide this information some of the more knowledgeable people will be able to offer some guidance.

Me personally, I use a TP-Link Deco set up

@rooky

Any chance of running ethernet cable? Gives a good solid starting point and is future proof. It can be run externally if this is a better option than disruption indoors.

Once run, all you need are Wireless Access Points (WAP)

Re: Mesh Network

I use Ubiquiti kit - very reliable, seamless moving from AP to AP, and nice central management system. It is mainly aimed at business use, but I think it is is actually easier to manage than many consumer products, while still having potential to set up VLANS, multiple SSIDs, guest portals etc.

They have a range of indoor and outdoor APs, some offering long range coverage, which are ideal for large gardens. I cover several buildings and >2 acres with 5 APs.  I often have > 100 devices connected without anything getting stressed.

Re: Mesh Network

I tend to use broadbandbuyer as they are always reliable, and they have a lot of choice - too many in some respects as it is hard to pick the best for a particular use.

I'd suggest looking at something like https://www.broadbandbuyer.com/products/51082-ubiquiti-ucg-ultra/  and https://www.broadbandbuyer.com/products/50614-ubiquiti-uk-ultra/

The APs are PoE, so you would probably need a unifi PoE switch too or injectors - if powered from a switch they will have an ethernet connection, but if used with an injector they can be used as mesh devices.

Have a browse through the options and read some reviews - then mull it all over for a while. The options are boggling.

Edit: I've just realised you probably have a router, so you'd only need the APs, but they ideally need a controller which can be a router or a separate device, or software running on a PC.
