Hub One longer length power supply/extension cable

Anyone out there know where I can purchase a longer length power supply or an extension cable for a hub one? I've seen plenty of 2.1mm dc cables, but none for the 3.1mm (ish) cable the hub one takes. A 5m cable would do it.
I've read a few other posts with no solution.

Re: Hub One longer length power supply/extension cable

@Jrfraser83  Welcome to the forum.

Two obvious solutions.

1. Use a mains extension cable instead.

2. Carefully cut the cable and join in a longer length, making sure that the cores aren't shorted together or crossed over.

Re: Hub One longer length power supply/extension cable

I am already plugged into a multi extension so dont really want to plug another one into it. Without going Into detail, a longer dc adapter cable is the only option.

Re: Hub One longer length power supply/extension cable

Amazon seem to only have 2.1mm diameter adapter cables. The hub seems to have a 3mm diameter.

Re: Hub One longer length power supply/extension cable

I've found this on Ebay.
Anyone know if this will work?

Re: Hub One longer length power supply/extension cable

As long as it has reasonably thick wire in it, it should be OK.

Remember you are pulling 1-2 Amps through the cable, and if the copper is too thin you might drop a volt or two along a fairly long cable.

@daveplus
I already have one of those.. they are only 1.5m ish long. I Need 5m and still dont think that one has 3.1mm Internal as needed

@wisty
It's the diameter pin at the router end I am asking about. Is there an official plusnet technical department who can advise me?. I believe its 3.1mm internal (as mentioned in other forums) but there is only the 3.3mm one I found on the market.

God knows why this hub is the only appliance in the world with this power pin diameter? I have a photo but cant seem to find out how to attach it to here?

@Jrfraser83

How did you measure the plug?

Re: Hub One longer length power supply/extension cable

The HH 4 & 5 PSU I have here is 5.5mm OD and 3mm ID (measured with a micrometer and pin gauge).

The HH6 is the same. But it's definitely a non standard size.

Its 20 AWG cable so on a 6M length @1amp you will drop about 0.5v

Would a long ethernet cable to connect a switch to the router enable you to achieve what you wantby a different route?
