Re: FIFA 14 Crazy Input Lag - Please Help

Hi Guys,
This is me! With the famous 56 page FIFA thread from hell! Fair play this drove me nuts!!!
http://community.plus.net/forum/index.php/topic,108016.0.html
As you will see here about my story and what progress was made or not made, although the guys tried, the end result was the same and nothing was found for whatever reason.  My story started long before this thread was started though (with PN still), in the end I gave up I'd had a gutsfull.  The advantage of this is I'm on the "other side" now and have living proof of my gaming directly in front of me AND I'M EXPERIENCING NONE OF THE ISSUES OF LAG since joining another ISP.  I think you'll all agree with me on where the fault lies....

Re: FIFA 14 Crazy Input Lag - Please Help

I too get the same problems as mentioned in this thread.  Happened to me with FIFA 14 and now FIFA 15, yet friends connected to the same exchange but on another ISP don't have any issues at all.

plusnet should bring out a better router, check the web there must be millions with game related problems using the tg582n and plusnet still supply it.looks like ill have to buy a better router because if plusnet do bring out a different router it will probably be made by technicolor Angry worst routers for gaming

I would agree with what you're saying about the router - if you're a gamer, I would stay clear of the TG582N.

What router would you suggest?

We aren't really sure what;s going on with Fifa.  It could be Level3, it could be the game itself.   BT are seeing the same issues I think:

Hi.I'm having latency issues with Fifa 15 too.I'm on fibre and when I do a traceroute to the ea servers,London Level 3 always seems to stand out with high pings.

if you are using the technicolor router there is no nothing you can do to get rid of lag, trust me ive tried for months using telnet commands.only lag went when i got a netgear router.

Re: FIFA 14 Crazy Input Lag - Please Help

I've set up my billion router and pings seem much more stable.I struggled to get an open NAT on it at first,so was using the technicolor as the game mode feature is always open for me.When I went on fifa clubs with the plusnet router it recommended north east american servers! Now with the billion it is recommending the british isles and europe.I haven't had chance to check the connection in game yet but I'll see if any of the lads are on later.
I'm hoping it has helped the latency. It seems it may well be the supplied router to blame but time will tell.

@ ghos7em1 - What are you ping times like to bbc.co.uk now? You have no issues with your new router?
@ Simonzo - Hmm that's strange, not quite sure why a different router would make a difference which server it suggests.

Re: FIFA 14 Crazy Input Lag - Please Help

Hi Andy.Yes your right I tried again last night and it was recommending the american servers again.I can only put this down to the time of day I tested it,I'm also getting a constant 1% packet loss now with the billion router.
I tried battlefield 4 last night and noticed when searching for a server the american servers were showing up 5 bars yet the european were only 1 bar.I tested the an online game with battlefield as it has a server performance test in the options. On the american server It showed no sign of packets being dropped with a ping of about 170.The european had no packet drops with a ping of 79 which seems pretty normal.I just can't understand why both games suggest the American servers were the best option. They are both EA games  but it's Fifa that gives me the lag.I haven't tested Fifa enough with the new router only managed to try two games.1st game was quite choppy but playable I guess. The 2nd game was pretty good with very little lag.I'm quite hopeful but this 1% packet loss is frustrating as the technicolor is always 0%.
