Re: High packet loss and other DNS issues

I've had major issues last night / this morning - it was unusable.

No graph to share yet, as I've turned it all off for the day while I'm at work...

Hope it isn't back to how it was again.

Anyone else seeing this?

Yes, it looks like packet loss is back from about 8am this morning.

My Broadband Ping - Bob1 (Static IP 55/10)

I haven't seen this for a while. The only problem I have been getting regularly is that the connection drops for about a minute, sometimes the yellow excamation mark comes up on the taskbar, sometimes not.

Re: High packet loss and other DNS issues

Oh great.

That's exactly what I was seeing Bob. It would drop out every minute or so.

Re: High packet loss and other DNS issues

I'm also seeing the same. Packet loss since 8:00 and frequent drops of connectivity. I've added a live TBB graph as well.

Re: High packet loss and other DNS issues

Just for everyone else -

Had a quick chat with Plusnet support again with an extremely friendly & chatty agent - has now seen this thread and your graphs, and also spoken to the "fault contact" while I was chatting to raise it - although they apparently said "its fixed and to do the normal checks"

Also has given me a new static IP to see if that would help - (I already had one from the previous issues) - sadly I can't test this until I get home Sad

Will report back.... hopefully it'll be fixed.

Re: High packet loss and other DNS issues

Not read the whole thread, but woke up this morning to my fttc connection lasting between 30s and 1:30s before dropping, then reconnecting.  I power cycled everything, re-checked, it was the same.  Called plusnet, and they told me this was a classic symptom of the router failing (not the modem..) (I have an openreach + a BTHHV2A OpenWRT).  So I replace the BTHHV2 with the original Sagem, and the issue was still there.

I then replaced the power supply of the OpenReach modem with the Sagem supply, and my connection has been up for 28 minutes now (back on original router and cabling)...

coincidence, or @AvengerUK01 's conversation had them fix something?

Either way, let's hope it's fixed :).

Re: High packet loss and other DNS issues

Thanks AvengerUK01

I'm seeing noticeable better performance now and graphs no longer showing packet loss. Things are good again!

Re: High packet loss and other DNS issues

Great news hopefully Smiley

(And no problem, I'd rather talk to Plusnet than do Risk management this morning!!!!!)

Re: High packet loss and other DNS issues

I think you did the trick @AvengerUK01, I rebooted both my modem and router and now all seems to be back to normal.

Thanks! Smiley

Re: High packet loss and other DNS issues

Morning guys,

The routing/packet loss issues this morning was due to a flapping route. It will mainly have affected customers who have been migrated to new network and are assigned a static IP.

An incident was raised (ref: 95003) and the problem mitigated around 9.50am. Our engineers are looking into what caused it but it's unrelated to the issues being discussed previously in this thread.

Sorry to those of you affected.

Re: High packet loss and other DNS issues

I think someone added a static IP to my account when all this was happening. Do I still need it? if not, could someone please remove it. Thanks
