Re: DNS Issues?

Hi Bob!
I put in a request to the Technical Support people (9 days ago!) but they weren't able to help me other than suggesting I reboot my router.
Could you please do for me what you've done for the others?
Thanks in advance.
Cheers, Ian

Re: DNS Issues?

Hi Bob,

I appear to be having the same issue and I'm on windows 10.
Keep losing the primary DNS which is set to plusnets.
Could I be pushed the fix? This has only been occurring since the router firmware upgrade.
Many thanks,
Isitari.

Re: DNS Issues?

I've been having issues with internet access as well. Glad I found this thread as I thought I was going crazy!
I've done the Telnet fix. Should I get the fix pushed my router anyway? Bob, can you assist if so?
Cheers,
Roger

Re: DNS Issues?

If you've carried out the telnet instructions Roger, then me pushing the fix won't help any further.
To the preceding two posters, are you still experiencing problems?

Re: DNS Issues?

Since I applied the fix via telnet a week or two ago things have been good however yesterday and more noticeably today a lot of pages are taking a long time to start loading.
Changes my local machines dns back to google's dns servers seems to again help.
I've just backed up the router configuration and it seems that the fix is still applied.
If you want me to run any specific tests then please let me know.

No disconnections tonight so seems to have worked! Thank you.

Re: DNS Issues?

I'm having the same problems - connection speed fine but web browsing interminably slow and stuttery - on my Hub One. Changing my Mac and iPhone DNS server to Google's (8.8.8.8) seems to have fixed it; the difference is night and day.
So is there a more general problem with Plusnet's DNS?
Are there known Hub One issues?
Is there any scope of changing DNS settings on Hub One itself?

Not that I'm aware of.

Again, nothing that would lead to the symptoms you're reporting.

Not at present I'm afraid.

Nope, although I know we're in the middle of pushing the fix out to all upgraded devices. It could be that it's been done as part of that program of work.
I'll check the others when I'm back in the office next week.

Re: DNS Issues?

Hello Bob,
What a relief to find this thread as it explains all of the issues I've been having recently and which have been making me tear my hair out!
Is there any chance you could apply the same fix for me too?
I hope this is ok & many thanks in advance

Re: DNS Issues?

Bob
I don't (seem to) have the problem addressed in this thread, probably because I am running Windows 7. However, I do have the Technicolor router with the latest firmware.
I don't want the problem but one day either I will make a mistake with Windows Update and get Windows 10 by accident, or (for likely) buy a new PC with Windows 10 pre-installed. Then I may well discover the problem.
Are you in a position to say what it may be possible for PlusNet to do for those of us who currently don't have the problem but one day may upgrade to it? Other than for me to get a new router (which may, indeed, be good advice)?

Hi Bob,
Thanks for the very quick response - much appreciated. Hopefully this will now have solved the problem.
