Re: Landlines are going digital

My timeline is here:

https://community.plus.net/t5/My-Order/Record-of-conversion-to-FTTP/td-p/2044766

In my case as I was not reading emails hourly, the router arrived before I knew it had been sent.

Re: Landlines are going digital

You were correct. (Sorry, I tried to quote Baldrick1's post, did not work)

The Openreach installer was unable to get me connected to full fibre today.

He did drill a hole in the front wall, fix a grey box on the front wall and fixed

the cable to my skirting board up to the double socket.

There needs to be some ground works on the pavement and then to my property.

I am pleased to still have Broadband working.

Re: Landlines are going digital

I received a text from Plusnet saying the engineer is booked in for July 28th.

Openreach also sent a text saying they will be in touch in the next 10 days regarding the groundwork.

Hopefully they can get the groundwork completed before the Plusnet appointment on July 28 and

before my current Broadband contract runs out on August 16th.

Re: Landlines are going digital

Openreach/groundwork turned up today unannounced and they could not understand why the engineer did not use the available duct to get me connected to fibre on 29th of May.

They installed the cable to my front door without needing to dig up the pavement or my front garden.

Hopefully I will not need to wait until July 28th to get up and running.

@greengrass

I would wait until tomorrow to allow OR systems to update and then phone PN to see if you can advance the install date.

Alternatively if you have an Open Question on you Members page you could update that and ask for new install date.

Re: Landlines are going digital

Thanks Brian,

I was called and an appointment has been made for the 16th of June for the engineer to complete the work.

Will the engineer make sure that I am connected to full Fibre before leaving as I am unsure of the connection process myself.

I understand that as I am already with Plusnet that I am to use the same password as I use for Broadband and to input that on page 192.168.1.254

When going to that page it says "not secure".

Re: Landlines are going digital

@greengrass When the engineer says s/he has completed the work, they should ask you to test - if they don't, ask them to wait until you have run a speed test.

You do not need to make any changes to the router, other than switching from the DSL  cable in the grey port on the rear of the Hub to an ethernet cable to the red/WAN  port, which the engineer wil possibly do for you.

Don't worry about the 'not secure' message - that is only because it is connected over the HTTP, rather than HTTPS protocol, but it is nothing to be concerned about.

Re: Landlines are going digital

I would expect the engineer to see the full fibre install working on one of your devices.

If you have a new Plusnet Hub, do remember to disconnect the copper connection from the old one before trying to get the fibre connection going.

(Don't ask how I know this...... )

I am the satisfied customer....

Re: Landlines are going digital

Thanks markhawkin for that tip, I do have a new Plusnet Hub and leads in the box ready for the installation.

Thanks jab1, I will see if they ask me to test the speed, right now I get about  or 7 mbps, I am subscribing to FF145.

I see, so I will be able to unplug my current PN Hub and plug the new one in with the new red ended lead and no need to

change anything on the Hub manager page.

Thanks for putting my mind at rest regarding the "not secure" message.

@greengrass Which router do you currently have in use?

@greengrass

If you're currently using the Hub1 when you change to the Hub2 you'll need to change the WiFi credentials to those you currently use.

Or change all your devices to the new credentials from the Hub2.
