I have set my domain hosting settings to other. I want to set up an "A" (Address) record to point to an IP address.
Looking at other DNS entries I would expect to use @ for the left field, but if I try this is says that only ". a-z - 0-9" are allowed. If I specify the full domain name it still does not work and seems to setup the domain "domain name"."domain name" almost as if I should set it to blank which is not allowed.
There did seem to be an article on this issue but it had been archived so I cannot access it.
Fixed! Go to the fix.

You need to add a qualifying dot on the left hand side, i.e: -
domain.tld. A <ip_address>
