I have not been able to access email, either by Thunderbird or by webmail, for some hours. It is surely time that we hard something like an apology and a rough estimate of when service might be resumed.

Yep, mail program (Evolution) reports login fail. Webmail (Plusnet Squirrel Mail) "Connection to IMAP server failed"

Plusnet "We'll do you proud" - "do you" having a different meaning of late...

What a bunch of Muppets. Glad I've already moved my email and I'm only picking up from Plusnet to wait for any Greenby fail-mail. But sad to see a once great company circling 't plug-ole :-((

Hi,

There's currently an issue with email affecting customers using a mail client like Outlook or Thunderbird (POP3 and IMAP) as well as Webmail.

Madasafish customers are mostly unaffected but it will affect some Plusnet, Force9, Free-online and Metronet customers.

I don't have all of the details but it is being worked on as a priority.

You are lucky! I lost a lot of money waiting for a sales agreement! I spent an hour+ on the phone with  Plusnet's team. I was NEVER told that my email service had actually been changed. I think I got an mail informing me that a change was being planned. The manager was not helpful. Essentially he said it was not Plusnet's problem it was Greenby's and they were no longer responsible. I asked how to contact Greenby and was told this was impossible as Greenby do not deal with customers directly (?!?).He accused me of not reading emails sent to me and said if the mails went into spam and got deleted it was my tough luck! Plusnet have behaved disgracefully. They should have made sure that each customer UNDERSTOOD that the service they receive was being changed (an actual date, a box to tick that you have read and understood the transfer).

POP3 and IMAP servers reject Authentication instantly now.

Just noticed that weirdly, I'm getting new email notifications on my phone with the title, sender and first few words of the email. But when I click on the notification, the email client still only has emails up to 14:53 today - nothing newer. And having clicked on the notification, it disappears.

Why haven't Plusnet notified us of all these issues? 

Why not give us an idea of when fixes will be completed?

Is there a common thread to report this issue or any page anywhere giving up-to-date information?  There seems to be nothing new on the service pages.

We have been plusnet for nearly twenty years; hundreds of people/companies have it as our email address, so changing is a massive issue.

We are still with plusnet broadband - mainly to keep the email - but just discovered that we will not be able to keep our landline number if we stay with them.  Waiting for migration to Greenby to make the Broadband switch but still no given any date/timescale.

 The last year the Plusnet emails have been a nightmare.  Problems with sending to Microsoft addresses (which happened to me again this week), sending later within one hour  - impossible to rely on the service. 

Today like everyone else we  have been unable to login to our emails, either using Thunderbird or Webmail.  Clearly not just us as Down Detector shows a hugh spike in outages and these Forums are awash with reports under a  wide range of different threads.

Why is there no official response or reporting system?

I want some compensation from Plusnet for this E-mail fiasco.  Because you outsource a service, you can't abdicate your responsibility for it when I'm paying you (Plusnet) for the service.  No response from the Greenby Support!  Don't say you get what you pay for, because I am paying fo the e-mail service, but I am paying Plusnet!

Unfortunately as it is 'a free add-on' we are not seen as customers, we are seen as liabilities which the BT blob wishes to get rid of.

I see that you have three up-votes, Jolly good for you. I see you are "Plusnet Help Team" and Plusnet has "an issue with email". 

Is it not possible to down-vote?

Email is kind of a basic part of 't interwebs, so Plusnet's recurring inability to do this basic stuff is a basic level fail. Worthy of multiple down-votes?

I have just updated Windows 11 (KB5077181), and Outlook 2016 now fails to save the password for mail.plus.net

I am a Madasafish (actually originally Golbalnet) customer and my emails are also not working again so it looks like I am not in the "mostly unaffected" group.
