Is everybody's email down today?

Well I've now received today's emails too.  BUT, have tried sending, from Thunderbird and Plusnet Webmail, to one of my other email addresses. As before, seems to send OK, and copies to Sent Items folder, but doesn't get received.

I just sent a test mesage from Outlook and it went through fine.

When i try to send from Thunderbird it asks me for my username and password (i changed them earlier) it then fails to authenticate, receiving works ok using the same password.

There is a small amount of mail queued which should arrive in the next hour or so.

@DavidB It's likely that there's a queue of unsent emails that the servers are trying to catch up on. Any new emails submitted will get put to the end of the queue, so my appear in the next couple of hours (assuming the service stays up!)

Ah, OK, could be.  But I first noticed this non-receiving things six days ago and contacted PlusNet support about it.  We shall  see....

Oh, the one I sent from PlusNet Webmail to my other address, has just arrived. But no sign of the one I sent using Thunderbird.

@DavidB I just sent a message from one email address to another using Outlook 2019 and it came through pretty much immediately.

Mine just will not authenticate the outgoing server settings, thats on Thunderbird and gmail on another device.

I've used Thunderbird for years and it's only recently, without me having changed any settings, that my sent emails are not being received. SO I conclude that it's not my Thunderbird, but some problem with PlusNet's email servers. I am apparently not yet migrated to Greenby.

I am beginning to receive emails again though I haven't tried sending any yet.

It would be good to know where the problem lies and if it will be a regulare occurrence.

Well jolly good. Nothing much to see here, move along. Definitely not an epic fail, a basic inability to do what interwebs companies are 'sposed to be able to do. Happens all the time, same as your bank loosing all your money or 'leccie company cutting yer power off by random incompetence...

Odd how the POP3 and IMAP views of the afternoon differ.

The POP3 version of my inbox has a jump from about 15:00 to 19:38 when there are no messages.

But the same a/c via IMAP does have messages in that time lots of forum notifications.

Two versions of the truth ... how very modern !

My email accounts are back up on iPhone, will check other platforms tomorrow.
