Re: Useless Plusnet Now ??

Yes it is a similar situation  but it (mail ) is all quite old I have had two of the 2 wire routers which worked well but for some reason may not now  The Netgear I have came from one of my sons who worked for Vodafone  and it came from them, I t has been fine for some time I really don't understand all the technicalities of broadband  Most of my neighbours are on something else via mobile phone or a projected signal from another company, with some kind of aerial array all costly and not within my means

Re: Useless Plusnet Now ??

I do appreciate you all taking an interest in my problems  Unfortunately there seems to be a problem in our villages  TA7 0JL even people on Fibre to the cabinet are not happy  Burrowbridge exchange is actually in Othery and we are also Adjacent to North Curry though near Stoke St Gregory   I have to pay a big line rental as well My sons get free line rental and cash back to   re- sign

Having helped a neighbour in rural Scotland many years ago, I can certainly vouch for the efficacy of the 2 Wire on a marginal line.

To clarify - do you still possess a 2 Wire - and are you saying that it no longer performs better than your Netgear?

Re: Useless Plusnet Now ??

Not sure why the 2 wires were replaced maybe not compatible any more the Netgear has been good  I am reluctant to change as I will have to get someone to do it for me ,when at home

Re: Useless Plusnet Now ??

Hey @stathe,

I'm sorry to hear that you've been experiencing these issues. I've had a look over this one tonight and it's a bit of a tricky one. To be completely honest, there is no fault and the service is performing as we would expect it to, though I can certainly appreciate that the overall line quality isn't the greatest in the world. It does somewhat limit our options for support here and whilst I have made the change @adam945 had mentioned previously, I'd ask that you please keep an eye on the stability of the line. If it seems to be dropping out, please let us know so we can reverse the change. With that having been said, I hope that this helps and the speed improves Smiley

Re: Useless Plusnet Now ??

Would be good to see the router stats before the line is dropped and after the change has been picked up.

Re: Useless Plusnet Now ??

@TheMightyAJ

That US looks very healthy for the length of line. Might it be tweaked any higher as there appears to be some SNRM headroom?

Re: Useless Plusnet Now ??

Hey @Townman,

The upload speed isn't capped, but I've made a change to bring it in line with the upstream SNR target of 6dB. Whether or not this will have any effect on the line remains to be seen, but it can't hurt to try Smiley

Re: Useless Plusnet Now ??

I intend to turn off the router now to see if it restarts more favourably
