Re: 0.79 down speed

OK,
That's all gone through and looks OK. If you want to see the new speeds straight away, drop the connection (Do not reboot) and then play with Skype.
Let us know if you have any problems.

Download speed  achieved during the test was - 1.75 Mbps
For your connection, the acceptable range of speeds is 0.8 Mbps-2 Mbps.
IP Profile for your line is - 2.15 Mbps
Upload speed achieved during the test was - 0.43Mbps
Additional Information:
Upstream Rate IP profile on your line is - 0.83 Mbps

So hopefully my plusnet profile can be popped up to the bt IP profile. Hopefully then I will receive something similar to what I was getting from day one of plusnet many moons ago Wink

Re: 0.79 down speed

Things are looking good, BUT, when a line reset is done it totally drops the connection (sync) which is what gave you the stats above that were before your "reset". As the reset you did was after dark, there would be more noise around, which is why the downstream speed is a bit lower than it was just before.
So what you need to do is,  around the middle of the day, certainly a good hour after sunrise and a good hour before sunset, is pull the POWER plug on your modem/router. Stay off-line for around 20 minutes and then plug it back in again.
Post the new stats.
As far as RSL (RouterStatsLite) not graphing goes, not urgent, but did you check it was the V3 modem/router and did you leave RSL running long enough to see the plotting - you could always do a screen grab of the Noise Margin Graph at some point and I can see if I can spot anything obvious.

Re: 0.79 down speed

Better - almost 100kbps better than the last stats I saw from your mate Wink  Your profile should update later in the day. If you can post some more BTw speedtest results later today and we can see what the profile is then, and if it hasn't shifted Plusnet will need to kick BTw.
What I did notice from your previous stats and now was that your Upstream Target SNRM looks to be 9dB and that needs changing to 6dB - don't know if that can be done whilst the line is in training (from the reset) but if the profile needs kicking by BTw then that can be fixed at the same time if Plusnet advise BTw. (I'm sure Tony is keeping an eye on things).

Re: 0.79 down speed

Of course, when you have time to check out this bit of a mystery with RSL, we'll get a clearer picture.
I've replied to your PM about this "4th cable".

Maybe with it settling without disconnection I might be able to achieve my regular speeds before the botch job install my friend had done (thanks BT subcontractor) Speeds which were around 2.6mb,  but either way I am pretty happy with where it is at so far. I just hope it stays that way.

Re: 0.79 down speed

Greetings.
For a while my internet has been fairly stable and I had been receiving around 1.8mb connection which I suppose is ok. but I wanted to update you on my current statistics as I have had a few drops today.

Downstream    Upstream

SNR Margin
0.1    5.1 db

Line Attenuation
61.3      38.2  db

Data Rate
2727      627  kbps

Max Rate
9716      600  kbps

CRC
685      65504
As you can see the SNR is really low... a tadge too low Tongue and my Max rate keeps jumping from around 3500 to over 9000.
I know BT have had the new fttc box installed which will eventually once active give us our FTTC internet, but I am unsure if maybe they are running some sort of tests on the lines, which might be causing these issues. In a way I hope they are as I would love to see the new internet coming in :)... finally be able to use Youtube above 360 😛 with more than 1 computer online 😛

I had also run a BT speedtest which told me that I was receiving 1.67MB download and a BT IP profile of 2.44MB.

Many Thanks.

Re: 0.79 down speed

The max.rate is only a modem/router estimate based on current speed and SNRM, so whilst the SNRM goes up and down so will the estimate, best ignored. What isn't so hot is the SNRM down at 0.1dB, yikes. Well if it hangs on great.
Have you done the Quiet Line Test 17070 option 2, when it's this low just to check the line is not noisy?
Check your Current Line speed (Login required). If that is down, maybe you had a lower sync speed at some point recently and it hasn't gone back up yet to match the current 2.4Mbps.

Re: 0.79 down speed

Estimated line speed:
There's no speed estimate currently held on your account.

Current line speed:1.6 Mb

I haven't done a quiet line test, reason being is that I have a wireless phone. Haven't had a cordless one in forever. Suppose it might be worth having one though. I will have a check though.

Re: 0.79 down speed

If your Current Line Speed hasn't risen by later today (assuming your sync speed holds) post back current stats, BT IP Profile and Current Line Speed again, and hopefully someone can have a look at what Delta reports have been coming through and what's been happening to the profile.
(When you have sync speed changes, you need to keep a check on your BT IP Profile and your Current Line speed to make sure things update correctly within a reasonable period).

Re: 0.79 down speed

Granted, having the 2.41mb speeds is quite nice.. but it keeps disconnecting, cant handle the 0.1 SNR. Think that needs to be changed.
So the profile has risen, but the disconnection issue is occurring too frequently and I would rather my net not get driven all the way back down to 1.3mb

Download speedachieved during the test was - 2.41 Mbps
For your connection, the acceptable range of speeds is 0.8 Mbps-2 Mbps.
IP Profile for your line is - 2.24 Mbps

Current line speed:2.6 Mb
