Quote from: DJGM1974 Ok ... so if there is a URL on this router that enables access to the advanced settings that most average users wouldn't generally use
(mentioned earlier in the thread) can anyone else confirm that it is there
If you read my post earlier I tested the URL and posted what extra settings it gave you access to.

Quote from: NorthEasterner For you to say it's faulty - whereas it isn't, is defrauding PN.
Defrauding Plusnet? It isn't actually my intention to report a non-existant fault. I merely asked if a new router could only be sent out if the
existing Technicolor router is reported faulty. I'd rather not have to wait for a fault to occur before I can get a router that might be better.
Quote from: NorthEasterner You can pay £40 + P&P for the new router.
If I'm to pay anything for a new router, it'll one that genuinely does support advanced options from a more reputable maker like Netgear.
The main reason that I'm choosing to stick with a router from Plusnet, regardless of whether it's made by Technicolor or Sagemcom,
rather than purchasing a 3rd party router, is in case I ever need to call up Plusnet technical support for assistance with connection
issues outside my LAN and beyond my control, I don't have to physically swap routers before picking up the phone.

Plusnet support are unable to diagnose router faults anyway.
When I started with fibre (in June 2012), Plusnet sent me a "free" Netgear router.
It has been running 24/7 without any problems ever since.

That's not really true Jeremy. Plusnet Technical Support can often give very good support for a number of different hardware setups. I'm sure someone from CRT can verify that.

And I wasn't talking about a faulty router setup, I was talking about setups with different routers!
I suggest you leave any further comment on this to CRT.

If Plusnet were distributing Netgear routers back in 2012 why did they not decide to not reduce subscriptions by as much as they did so that they could continue to supply Netgear routers?

Quote from: DJGM1974 If Plusnet were distributing Netgear routers back in 2012, why did they suddenly switch to handing out massively inferior Thomson routers?
Because they had lots of ADSL modem-routers, but no routers with a WAN connection (for fibre).
They had to wait for fibre to be proven before they could bulk-buy something that was ridiculously cheap.

FWIW ... I've ordered one of the new Sagemcom 2704n routers from Plusnet customer services earlier today, so I'll soon find out
how much of an improvement it is over the current Thomson / Technicolor 582n router I've got. It can't possibly be any worse!
