Can't access Website on Plusnet Router

My Laptop, Tower and Iphone time out If I try to access Eurocarparts, com (IP address 194.74.180.83)  via the Plusnet router. All other website connect without problems.

If I take my portable devices elsewhere (friends/family) I have no problems accessing that site.

Narrowing it down a bit, my son in law is with Plusnet but has his own router and I can access Eurocarparts.com there. Strangely, he lent me his unused Plusnet router to try at home, in place of mine, and this also failed to connect to the website.

One last thing, if I try using the Tor browser I actually get connected.

Can anyone throw any light on this, any help greatly appreciated.

Re: Can't access Website on Plusnet Router

Sounds like your IP has been wrongly identified by the company as not being a UK one. This happens because BT/Plusnet are using IP blocks they have acquired from elsewhere, and Eurocarparts (or the IP location services they use), have not correctly updated their databases.

Re: Can't access Website on Plusnet Router

Thanks' John, I have reported this to the Plusnet Help Team but I felt that it stunned them a bit and I was unlikely to get a reply.

In your opinion is it BT, Eurocarparts or Plusnet that I should be chasing for resolution?

Re: Can't access Website on Plusnet Router

The Help Team can get a bit confused by this - depends how long they've been on the job.

In answer to your question - Eurocarparts.

Re: Can't access Website on Plusnet Router

Just as an aside, I recently moved to Plusnet from Virgin. I did not get the problem when on Virgin, is this relevant?

Re: Can't access Website on Plusnet Router

No - your IP on Virgin would be from their pool, which is not, AFAIK, changed/amended as often as the BT/PN one, but it is still the responsibility of Euro (or more specifically, their IP location service) to ensure their records are up to date.

If you want to try acquiring a different IP, you ideally need to leave the router switched off overnight, as the 'pools' are relatively small and 'local'.

Re: Can't access Website on Plusnet Router

John, I'm sorry but I missed out on one vital thing, a TRACERT doesn't get to Eurocarparts and a Ping times out immediately after the Router.

@RichV Strange - can you post the first three octets of your current IP?

Sorry - I meant the first the blocks of numbers reported by this site: https://www.whatismyip.com/ . I forget not everyone understands computer terminology.

Re: Can't access Website on Plusnet Router

@RichV

Don't know why you have a problem - I have checked using 5 location databases and they all report BT/PN as the holder, location UK.

If you can, try changing your IP by turning the router off all night. Can't guarantee it will work, due to the PN 'local pool' policy, but it might, If not come back and tell us.
