Blocking internet access to a phone

Hello, I was wondering if anyone could help me. I am trying to block internet access to a mobile phone (android) in my household, I have logged into our router services and selected to limit the device permanently, however the device is still connected to the Internet. Thanks in advance

Re: Blocking internet access to a phone

Do you have a router that permits MAC filtering?
That way you can list devices MAC numbers in router to allow only them to access
internet. I've had option on past routers not current PN Hub One.

Thanks for your reply. I have the Hub One and went through the option of limiting access to the device, but the device still remains online.

Re: Blocking internet access to a phone

All you could do is go into Hub One 'Advanced Settings', then DEVICES, click on the offending Android device, and you can DELETE DEVICE from network.
However, I'm not sure how long this is effective; others may chip in on that.

Re: Blocking internet access to a phone

Change the wireless password and don't give it to the Android phone.

Re: Blocking internet access to a phone

It could still get access to the internet via the mobile signal, although the data allowance could be reduced.

Safeguard could be used to limit sites available, although that would affect all users.

I guess it all depends on what the OP wants to achieve?.

Didn't work I'm afraid. If I change the wireless password will all current users be prompted to input the new one before connecting?

Re: Blocking internet access to a phone

The risk of blocking internet access via WiFi is that your phone then defaults to using the mobile network instead and you run-up large data charges for accessing the internet when it would otherwise have been free.  I saw a client a few weeks ago who had got through £30 of phone charges in a day because she had been wrongly advised to block WiFi access.

@VileReynard - Maybe to stop his child(ren) from spending their lives on it when they should be doing other stuff like sleeping or homework.

Re: Blocking internet access to a phone

Am puzzled that deleting from network in HubOne's device list isn't effective; wonder if it needs a reboot after
doing this.
