Re: Sam knows testing

But did you "opt-in" for collecting 'quality of experience' tests for YouTube, Netflix, and BBC iPlayer.

Re: Sam knows testing

The spikes have always been there on the TBB graph since I started using the Billion BiPAC 8800AXL, but they've got higher since I attached the Sam Knows box.
And yes, I have opted in for the advanced tests. I haven't noticed any detriment to my "user experience" by doing that.

Re: Sam knows testing

I've got the advanced video ones opted in as well, there's been no detriment to my internet experience at all just as Jaggies says the spikes on my TBB graph have gone up as well.

Re: Sam knows testing

Just reported to Samknows that my box has stopped testing from 22.00 on 3rd Nov
Interesting my Youtube bit rate has gone from a steady  2.37 to 4.59 on the evening of 3rd Nov
I have raised both with Samknows

Re: Sam knows testing

Mine sporadically seems to test at night, mind you I work from home and use the internet a lot so I think it must know if you are online or not

Re: Sam knows testing

The Plusnet usage off peak is interesting as it shows the effect of the testing when using streaming tests

Off-peak 670.21MB (Mon) 638.74MB (Tues) 4.6MB (Wed)

Re: Sam knows testing

Quote from: pwatson
My Sam Knows box is just plugged into a switch port on my network rather than as a 'through' device as shown on their installation guide.  As a result I don't care whether it's got a gigabit port or not Smiley

Quote from: pwatson
I have had the Sam Knows box lock up on more than one occasion and stop submitting data until a reboot so I'm not happy to pass all my traffic through it...

I moved my box to be 'in line' yesterday to see if it made any difference to the results.  Today it stopped passing traffic and knocked the house offline.
Removed now and it won't be going back!
