Re: Plusnet - New Network

Well, this has to be the fastest speed I've seen since joining Plusnet (not including being hooked up directly to the vDSL modem with a laptop), I'm happy (even if Ookla gave it a A- on the test!)... Smiley

Re: Plusnet - New Network

I don't think I've noticed anything here other than the PPP drop in the early hours of yesterday morning.

Re: Plusnet - New Network

Just i read that static ip can be more of target for hackers, and what not. I read that its only really people who host websites or game servers that really need to have a static ip.

I dont see any real benifits for myself, im prob looking too much into it lol i just read that static ips can be targeted more.

Someone just pointed me to this thread from here.

If I've been given a static IP address can you remove it please?  I didn't ask for it and I absolutely don't want it for the reasons outlined in the linked post.

It is totally a placebo.  A static IP is only advantageous for hosting long term because you don't want the IP to change.  The new network arrangement may have improved speed and latency by it has nothing to do with the IP address assignment method (dynamic vs static).
