Britain most proud of sense of humour

Charlie Chaplain Tonight is the 10th anniversary of comedy awards event, the Loaded LAFTAS which is voted entirely by the public and pays homage to some of Britain's best comedians. It seems only appropriate then that we unveil that  the British sense of humour has been voted as the trait we are most proud of in a recent poll we had commissioned. Whilst us Brits are clearly very proud of our music industry and sporting prowess, it's our sense of humour that came out laughing. Read on to find out more ... With Britain boasting a rich heritage of comic legends, who have pioneered the way both at home and abroad, from Charlie Chaplin to Monty Python and more recently, the multi-award winning Ricky Gervais, over two thirds (69%) felt compelled to list the sense of humour as their number one British characteristic. Our sense of humour was a clear winner, coming out a full 16 percentage points ahead of Briton’s pride in sporting success which tied in second place with pride in culture and the arts, (both 53%). Following close behind is Britain’s reputation for charitable giving.  Meanwhile, at the bottom of the pile and possibly reflecting the current economic climate, pride in British business and finance came out last with just 31%. Jamie Ford, Plusnet CEO, said:

““With our strap line being, ‘We’ll do you proud’, we are a company that takes pride in everything we do, and as TV viewers will have seen from our adverts, we also like to do things with a smile and a laugh, so it’s great to see Britain placing such importance on our celebrated sense of humour."
