Hi,
there isn't anything on DSL port, just the WAN and the numbered ports
the device on Lan3 is my PC connected with a 10m Cat 7 cable and nothing else.
I have swapped it to another port
I will reset the router after everyone is asleep tonight for my own safety and sanity ![]()
and upload a new log.
it is my kiddos birthday in days and we have family stuff happening so my time is limited , but I will reply ![]()

@yorkshiregeek I'm a bit busy this morning, but your latest event log looks a tad disconcerting - 'BOOT' events and disconnecting Ethernet (wired) devices.
Maybe @Dan_the_Van / @Townman have better insight than I, but something tells me you may have a dodgy Hub.

I'd be more concerned with the PPPoE drop at 09:04:27 this morning due to 'No carrier'
@yorkshiregeek did you notice any change in the lights on the ONT ?

@MisterW I missed that - sorry -, but the activity today is overall a bit suspect to me.

sorry, I didn't notice anything more out of the "normal" issue
to eliminate any issues with it being my PC and its set up I removed all the VMs that automatically boot and removed the bridged network interfaces and just a regular default one

This Hub has recently rebooted
09:03:22, 03 Nov. CWMP: Initializing transaction for event code 0 BOOTSTRAP
All following messages with 'boot' would be a result of the restart.
09:04:30, 03 Nov. WAN connection WAN1_INTERNET_ETH disconnected.[ERROR_NO_CARRIER]
maybe at the point the WAN cable was removed or the ONT was rebooted?
Did you power reset both the Hub and ONT?
I was suggesting you'd perform as factory reset using the reset hole at the back of the Hub.
This will fully clear down the current event log and so we can start with a known state

Did you power reset both the Hub and ONT?
I did the router, not the ONT but the cables weren't unplugged at all
this time I did both

Thank you,
As a point of interest, did you have any pauses over the weekend?
I see
10:09:18, 03 Nov. Reset button pressed - normal factory reset
10:09:09, 03 Nov. Reset Button Press
I also note
10:12:34, 03 Nov. WAN Auto-sensing detected port DSL WAN
10:12:32, 03 Nov. Hub has successfully received and applied its configuration from Plusnet's activation hub remote management system.
10:12:32, 03 Nov. WAN Auto-sensing detected port DSL WAN
Also the expectation of the event log being cleared down hasn't occurred
Any thoughts, why we're seeing the DSL WAN detected message when this is a Full Fibre connections and event log is still intact?

Hi,
Sorry I was entertaining family and kids over the weekend, we had the usual smart devices refusing to connect or hanging for a while before playing the music etc

Yes, that's odd. It didnt seem to do that immediately after the factory reset, only after the 'no carrier' drop ?
and event log is still intact?
Yes, I would have expected the log to be cleared on a factory reset !!
There's definitely a fault somewhere causing PPPoE drops which will result in the 'pauses' being seen.
either
1) Ethernet cable ( and connectors ) between Hub & ONT
2) Faulty Hub
3) Faulty ONT
4) Fault in the Fibre network
This isnt the first fault of this type seen recently....
@yorkshiregeek have you got a spare ethernet cable you could try , to eliminate 1) ?
You could also check that the fibre cable (green plug) is securely connected to the ONT
DO you have any other router that could be used to eliminate 2) ?

@MisterW - your edit echoed my thoughts.
@yorkshiregeek How old is your ONT ? - mine failed, totally, after 18 months.

I've had a BT guy out very recently,
* he said the ONT box was getting what I was meant to, and the fault was the Ethernet cables not being cat 6+
* I ordered replacements for everything and while I was swapping them out, they all were already so I don't know what he was meaning now, but I still replaced them all
* The house is a new build and we are the first people to live here, so it has only been used since September but it was powered up when we moved in so it could have been sat doing nothing for a year
I checked the green plug on the ONT and due to how it is placed and soda I can't see the socket but it feels secure and I wasn't able to remove it to re-seat it.
when I have help to move the sofa I will get a proper look

Complete rubbish!. Cat5e is perfectly capable of 1Gb! In any case a lower spec cable e.g cat5 wouldnt cause an intermittent fault , it would just limit the connection to 100Mb

A good old fashioned visual radius plot (from one of the support guys) to show the history of PPP session loss would be helpful!
In another browser tab, login into the Plusnet user portal BEFORE clicking the fault & ticket links
