Re: My virus scan software detected a vulnerabilty in my plusnet router

Thanks for the helpful info.

Much appreciated.

the Firmware version of our Router is:

Firmware version:

v0.10.00.04201-PN

We turn our Hub 2 router off at night.

I'm wondering if we may have missed a firmware update?

Many thanks.

@AngieB4 You have the current firmware.

Can I ask why you turn the router off at night? - they are designed to be left on 24/7, and constantly turning them on/off  can (a) unnecessarily stresses he components/shorten their life and (b) does mean you can miss updates, as they are usually pushed out in the small hours.

Re: My virus scan software detected a vulnerabilty in my plusnet router

Hi.

Unfortunately we didn't realize this.

It's in our room and the light is bright.

However,we will leave it on in future.

Do you know if

Firmware version:

v0.10.00.04201-PN is the latest version, or do I nned to ask a moderator to update the firmware for us?

Many thanks.

You could always put a sheet of cardboard in front of it at night. 😀

You have the latest firmware.

Re: My virus scan software detected a vulnerabilty in my plusnet router

Thanks John.

We will try that.

As we have the latest firmware, I'm assuming the avg warning is not a concern.

Many thanks for your help.

You can dim the light or even turn it off at night https://www.plus.net/content/dam/plusnet/documents/a11y-transcripts/controlling-your-hub-lights.pdf

The AVG warning is, to be polite, a load of bull.

Re: My virus scan software detected a vulnerabilty in my plusnet router

@AngieB4

In my view I don't see a need for any AV software (paid for or free) to be added to an Android device as long as you keep the OS and apps up to date and only download apps from Google Play.

I have used Samsung Galaxy phones and tablets for years with my S23 currently running Android 16 and One UI 8. In all these yesrs I have never had a virus or other malware-based issue.

Programs like AVG just slow things down.
