Re: Hub One - 5GHz WiFi issue

@Battle1066 & @dayvie - update has been sent your way. You'll need to power your hubs off/back on again to apply it.

@carolineh1 - Your hub was updated mid-July to a version that should not be subject to the 5GHz issue. It that when you started experiencing problems? I have pushed the most recent build to your hub but I'm not 100% convinced it's going to help. Let me know either way.

Edit@carolineh1 - the attempt to upgrade your hub actually failed, so I have scheduled it to happen as part of the wider deployment instead. If it is currently in use, then I would suggest you restart it anyway. Hopefully that will clear whatever issue is stopping the update from being pushed to you. You can then expect your router to reboot early in the morning one day next week after which it should be on version ending 1.3

Thanks @bobpullen - I've restarted the router and will monitor the stability of the 5 GHz network over the next few weeks.

Re: Hub One - 5GHz WiFi issue

Hi Bob,

Thanks for the post and info. I have joined PlusNet only recently and after constant connectively cuts outs, appear to have this issue. Could I be pushed the latest firmware in an attempt to resolve please?

1. Product name:Plusnet Hub
2. Serial number:+081441+NQ12505315
3. Firmware version:Software version 4.7.5.1.83.8.263 Last updated Unknown
4. Board version:Plusnet Hub One

Thanks for your assistance.

On a side note as a new customer I am pretty flabbergasted to find that there is such a widespread issue that is being left purely on customer to sort out. Pretty odd from BT really especially as my old BT router (which I have annoyingly only just recycled) was very similar, flawless and guess could have been reused in someway

Re: Hub One - 5GHz WiFi issue

@srgrice

If your old router was a BT HH6, that's too bad! Many of us find the HH6 is far better  than the Hub One although Bob does his very best to meet the many requests for help. HH6 readily available on auction sites at £5 to £20 last time I looked, and there's an excellent guide to setup on this forum.

Re: Hub One - 5GHz WiFi issue

Yes thanks, I do wanted to get a better router. I was thinking of something like a TPlink, Netgear or Dlink that sort of thing but I dont realy know which/what model. Since looking however, I have read on here how the BT HH6 is a good option. I will look out for one and follow the procedures on here. I was just after trying to improve what I currently have if it can be done quickly/easily. Cheers.

Re: Hub One - 5GHz WiFi issue

Hi @bobpullen ,

Could I also get the firmware update please.

5Ghz Network is constantly dropping, 2.4Ghz and Ethernet are still fine. All devices lose connection regardless of distance. Blue light is still on, but cannot connect to the network. Resetting the router always brings it back, but it quickly goes again

Tried Un-splitting and re-splitting the Channels, resetting the wifi, factory resetting the router, changing the channels. all have not managed to help so far.

Then the 2.4Ghz network is far slower than the 5Ghz network. (20Mbps instead of the 70-75Mbps on the 5Ghz)

Any help would be fantastic.

Software Version 4.7.5.1.83.8.263, Last Update 'Unknown'

Serial Number: +081441+NQ51607629

Router Plusnet Hub One.

Many Thanks,

Kynie

Re: Hub One - 5GHz WiFi issue

@NicDB @keithscarfe @DaveH76 & @krfstudd - I've pushed the update your way. You'll need to restart your respective devices to apply it.

@srgrice - I'm having difficulty communicating with your hub so I've scheduled an upgrade to take place the next time it calls home. If it's currently in use, then try restarting it and waiting a few days for the update to come through.

Re: Hub One - 5GHz WiFi issue

@bobpullen   An update on the latest firmware update as requested...

Unfortunately I am still getting drop outs daily.  The causes on the W10 trouble shooter continue to show as "Wifi does not have a valid IP configuration" and mainly "Defaut Gateway not available".  One such incident occurred at 13.01 and shows on the Event log, as previous events have also similarly shown.
