Hub 2 Firmware not updating

HI.

The firmware on my Hub two is still on v0.05.03.07154-PN

I've bee using the hub for a number of years.

I've hard reset the hub via holding the recessed button on the back, and restarted it multiple times.

I've read through a few forum posts on the subject. Do I need to register my hub serial number somewhere, please?

Re: Hub 2 Farmwear not updating

@biglittle If that router was supplied by PN,it sounds like it was never registered - that is a really old F/W release. I have a feeling it is too old (version-wise) to get auto-updated.

@bobpullen Is this one for you?

Re: Hub 2 Farmwear not updating

@biglittle

After you factory reset the Hub when connected were the username and password populated or did you have to enter them manually?

If you had to enter them it would confirm the Hub is not enrolled to the management system.

The missing updates were more to do with functional changes rather than security.

Re: Hub 2 Farmwear not updating

After factory reset, the username was filled in, but looked to be a default name. Something like Plusnet@plusnet. I had to enter my details manually.

The reason I'm looking to update is due to port forwarding issues. Might not be the issue, but worth a try if the newer firmware updates something related.

Re: Hub 2 Farmwear not updating

OK. @Dan_the_Van is correct, your Hub is not registered on the management platform, which may be a slight problem - I seem to recall reading a long time ago that any kit with early firmware updates couldn't be updated to later ones - hopefully I will be proved right or wrong by someone who knows more.

Can't help with the port-forwarding I'm afraid - not in my skill-set.

Re: Hub 2 Farmwear not updating

The default username would be setup@plusdsl.net
What issues are you having with port forward rules?

Re: Hub 2 Farmwear not updating

Thank you for the replies.

I purchased a new hub 2 from ebay. It was on v0.06.00.12134-PN and updated to v0.10.00.04201-PN after a few mins.

Port forwarding is working fine on this hub.

All good.

Re: Hub 2 Farmwear not updating

@biglittle I suggest you contact Plusnet Support and ask them to register this 'new' Hub2 to your account, otherwise, should you have problems in the future, they will not be able to 'find you' on the system.

Re: Hub 2 Farmwear not updating

@biglittle

The fact the Hub two updated it's firmware suggests it's on the management system.

A word of warning, the Hubs are associated to a broadband user by it's serial number, you need to make sure the broadband username and password pair are yours and not of the original owner, if the are please change them to be yours.

Duplicate broadband users on networks can cause issues.

And what @jab1 said.

Re: Hub 2 Farmwear not updating

Thanks for the advice. The new hub was still sealed in clear wrap, so hadn't been used by the previous owner. The username was the default setup@plusnet. Hopefully it will not cause any issues.

Re: Hub 2 Farmwear not updating

Call CS as advised by @Dan_the_Van and @jab1 as the serial number of the hub is associated with another user
Was a member for years, but moved from PN fttc to fttp from an AltNet. Getting 940Mb up and down. Happy to stay on here and try to help others. 

Re: Hub 2 Farmwear not updating

You still need to register it to your account - it will have been registered to the original 'owners' on despatch from the warehouse.

Re: Hub 2 Firmware not updating

@biglittle - drop me a private message containing your hub serial number and Plusnet username and I'll take a look at ensuring it is correctly associated against your account.
