HP2540 printer

I have been trying for 2 days to connect  my printer and my computer to my Plusnet Hub One router with no success. The computer is connected to the WiFi but can’t print because the printer is not connected. I never had this problem with Sky and am considering switching providers. Please don’t be technical as I am an OAP and don’t understand tech talk. I’ve tried a USB connection and it didn’t work so thanks for any help offered.

Re: HP2540 printer

@Marlene2 Welcome to the forums. The reason you can't connect wirelessly is most likely because your printer still thinks it is connected to the SKY router - you need to reset it it, but if you are not technically minded that could be a problem - there will be instructions on how to do it in the printer manual. I don't understand though why the USB connection won't work - it should do.

Don't worry, @Marlene2 - it is still visible - its just been moved to a more relevant board.

@Marlene2

It has been moved to this My Router board. You posted it on the ADSL board.

Re: HP2540 printer

Well I’ve sat here for nearly two hours with HP support going through everything they said and they apologised saying they couldn’t help. I ran a diagnostic and apparently got an Network SSID fail whatever that is so not sure whether to buy a new printer.

Re: HP2540 printer

@Marlene2 I assume HP support guided you through the full deregister/re-register procedure. It should be a simple process.

Re: HP2540 printer

I’ve done it Jabs. I thought it was a complicated fix and in the end it was so simple. I have to say though I was glad of your support knowing I had a back up, thank you x

Re: HP2540 printer

@Marlene2 Just to satisfy my curiosity - what was the thing that fixed it?
