D-Link EXO AC1960 Smart Mesh Dual Band Wi-Fi Router

I wonder if anyone is using this router with plusnet?  I am thinking of it as I really need to compete with the signals coming from next door. So 5gHz is becoming a necessity.  I've chosen this one as it has USB 3 - which would be a better option as I want to set up a media hard disk as a server.

Any experience of this family of routers out there?

You do realise that this is a router so will need an additional modem for use on Plusnet?

Also do you have a ADSL or fibre service? From a quick look at the manual I'm not sure that it is compatible with the PPPoA encapsulation used by Plusnet for ADSL.

Maybe if you gave a few more details such as the hub that you are currently using and your problems would elicit some helpful advice?

Damn, didn't notice that.  At the price you'd think....

On FTTC and have the usual plusnet modem.  I'd rather get something that might be future proofed and expandable.

Any ideas? (Not the BT one, doubt if it'd be updateable firmware wise)

For info the BT Smarthub 6 advantage is the price. They are so cheap on auction sites you can 'future proof' them by flogging them on if you want something better in the future.

The firmware is automatically updated by BT despite being used on the Plusnet network.

Apart from the fact the BT Hub doesn't have USB 3 does anyone know if the problem with reading files from a USB drive, is also a problem on their kit too? (SMB1 problemo)

I've been testing out using a hard drive through the USB 2 on the Plusnet router only to find it won't dish out an IP address and i can't access it through my PC.

Now getting well cheesed off with Plusnet HUB One - no 5Ghz and now no ability to access a USB drive.

Rather than fretting about accessing drives from any router’s USB socket you would be better off investing in a proper NAS unit.
