I am thinking about changing the default router to one of these
Or
Can I get some help on if these would be compatible, unsure if they are.

As long as you can set the VLAN to 0 or blank and add your PN credentials they should work

They are only suitable for FTTP, connect to the ONT, not FTTC.
Why would you think that?
The ONT can be seen as a modem, so provided with part Fibre (FTTC/SoGEA) you use a modem with the routers WAN setup for PPPoE it will work.
I have used the TP-Link AX53 successfully with FTTC using Hub Two in bridge mode
Edit added PPPoE config details
PPPoE account details
Broadband username or login name yourusername@plusdsl.net
Connection type or encapsulation PPPoE Always On
Password The password you use to log in to the My Account

They have not stated what service they are on so I assumed FTTP as these do not have a ASDL socket

I agree the OP did not state what type of router, for some router is a generic term so it could mean a router only device or combined modem/router.
I was filling in the gaps of your post.

The hub 2 has a broadband port, phone port and 4 1 Gig ethernet ports
The broadband port, phone port are unused.

To clarify further, are you on an FTTP or FTTC connection?

In that case either of your choices will work, depends on how much you want to spend.
I've previously posted the necessary setting.

I have the BE550 and can honestly say it's a great piece of kit - I have FTTP 900, running Ethernet with my gaming pc at 2.5GB (yes I know plusnet don't offer above gig... yet hopefully 🤞) and a few devices running on Wi-Fi 7 alongside 6E - Never experienced any slowdowns and the router hasn't given me any issues since I purchased it
Deffo a steal at £200 - purchased mine a few months ago for £300 but can't complain at that price especially for what you get with it.

@grundy2 is there a separate option to 'disable' VLAN ID ?

In that case I suggest you disable IPTV/VLAN
