Cannot access router - taking me to Utility Warehouse login????

We have an Openreach engineer out yesterday.  They replaced the cable coming in from the mast outside to the house in response ot some major speed problems on our Plusnet fibre.

The 'net connection is now back on.  The speed is fluctuating all over the place (engineer warned this may happen).  I did a factory reset on the Asus router and got it all working again, but now I cannot access the router at all.

I usually access it on 192.168.1.1. But this now takes me to a login page for 'Utility Warehouse'.  No idea what that's about as I've never been a customer of theirs.  Even with a laptop plugged directly into the router I still get this.

Any ideas what is going on?

I don't suppose in your browser you have set the default page on opening up to go to that page?

No, I always use empty or no default pages.

Do you have any powerline adapters in your network?

Have you tried a direct ethernet cable to your router?

Re: Cannot access router - taking me to Utility Warehouse login????

I do have a couple of powerlines but they're only to feed the TV box connection.  Everything else is connected by two non-mangaged Netgear switches which have no login.

Yes, I've connected a laptop directly to the router via ethernet.

Where is this 'Utility Warehouse' thing coming from?  Screen grab of the screen attached.

Do you still get the same with the powerlines switched off and with a direct cable connection to the router?

Re: Cannot access router - taking me to Utility Warehouse login????

I've tried tried this a few minutes ago.  Yes, it seems to go away when the main powerline unit is off (the one that takes an ethernet connection from the router).  So the UW login would seem to be something to do with those (I've never had to configure them so I'm guessing based upon evidence).

That's fine, as long as I know where its coming from.  Was worried there'd been some breach somewhere.

Thanks for the suggestion.

Have you checked your phone number?

Dial 17070

Maybe you have got connected to someone else's broadband.

@Robster  It's not the first time I have seen this. Basically one of your neighbours has UW, and your powerlines has synched to their devices. Have a look in the manual for the powerlines, and see if you can set up encryption to stop then connecting to other devices.

Wouldn't suprise me.  Our house was built in the 1850s and the wiring is a bit 'interesting' in places.  Although it's detatched were physically close to two other houses so I suspect UW is coming from one of those.

This is good to know though, thanks for your input.

@Robster you REALLY do need to do that urgently. You are connecting to the neighbours network and possibly them to yours!.
