Porting number from Virgin to Plusnet

I have just moved to Plusnet and my BT line went active today (20th) I am moving from Virgin Media and my reason for selecting the Unlimited Fibre package was that it had a phone line included and was told I could keep my existing number.

I was told on the phone that I needed to wait for the BT line to be active before the number could be requested from Virgin. Reading similar enquiries on this forum I believe both the BT and Virgin lines need to be active at the time of request but when speaking to customer services today they suggested my Virgin contract be allowed to expire first (on the 29th). I would appreciate some clarification on this point thank you.

Am I right in thinking that once both lines are active you need to place a renumber order on the existing line and how long does this take?

My number was previously on BT at my current address before being moved to Virgin ~20 year’s ago so hopefully transferring it back is not a problem.

many thanks

Re: Porting number from Virgin to Plusnet

Hi @Pete271

Thanks for getting in touch, hope you're well 🙂

Sorry for the delayed response, we're really busy at the moment and taking longer than we'd like to get back to people. Both lines would need to be active before we can go ahead and place an import request as we can only port across numbers from Virgin that are active.

Just let us know when your line is installed and working, then me or one of colleagues will be able to place the import order for you. It does take around 10 working days for the number to come over to us.
