Upgraded to fibre on 13/08/20, was sent two new routers for some reason. They are both hub ones and identical to router I already had so haven’t switched to either of them. Broadband speed hasn’t improved at all yet, still getting max 12ish mb/s. Can’t get through on customer service, no answer on twitter Plusnet help, no live chat available so trying here in desperation. Does anyone recommend plugging in one of the new hub ones? Can’t see point if identical to one already in use but wondered if necessary to increase speed?

Your existing Hub One will support both ADSL and VDSL (superfast broadband, fibre to the cabinet) but the settings are slightly different. Your new hubs should be set up for VDSL but you can change the settings yourself if you want.
