My contract with my present supplier ends on the 16 August. When is the best time to put my Plusnet order in . I don't want Plusnet starting before the 16th August otherwise I'd be up for terminating too early with extra costs. (I'm already connected to Full Fibre so its just a change of supplier) Thanks.

Is your Full fibre connection an Openreach one ?

Oh crumbs. You have me there. I changed to Sky and they put the Full Fibre connection in. I know they connected from the street into the house

@CornishLass Ok, well Sky do normally use Openreach ?
Does the ONT (little white box into which your router is plugged) they installed have an Openreach logo on it ?
The reason for asking if the existing service is an Openreach one, is that if it is then the transfer to Plusnet is simple. There's no engineer visit required, everything can be done remotely and the transfer completed in a couple of days

Thanks for checking. In that case transferring to Plusnet should be simple and should only take 24-48hrs.
You should be able to specify a start date when you sign up although it's a while since I signed up and so aren't familiar with the latest process.
I'd aim to get your transfer date a day or two before before your current contract expires, that way you won't go onto any expensive out-of-contract rate with Sky. You pay monthly in advance so you will have already paid Sky to the end of the contract. Leaving before the end date just means any refund is slightly reduced
Probably best to give Plusnet sales a call and check if you can specify a start date but since your contract doesnt end for a month then it's not too urgent

@CornishLass , in that case, the switchover would be a remote one completed in 2-3 days, as @MisterW says.
