Does activating airplane mode, for a few seconds, then deactivating - kick the phone into finding the 4G signal?
Regards

I haven't tried that but I will do thanks
If it works its not really the point though surely I shouldn't have to do that

Although Plusnet use the EE network, they do not support WiFi or 4G calling.
The lack of 4G calling (also known as VoLTE) results in Plusnet mobile devices being unable to access EEs low frequency 4G signal.
This low frequency signal typically provides slower data speeds but better coverage.
As you were on EE if you had a suitable phone then you could have been accesing the lower frequency 4G signal when you were in the house and on leaving.
