Re: No mobile phone service

Hi @BF62
Plusnet use the EE network.
Does the EE status checker report a problem for your postcode?
https://coverage.ee.co.uk/coverage/ee
The EE checker is but of pain in that a valid phone model has to be entered. If your device is not in their list just use any valid device.

Re: No mobile phone service

Hello Richard
I have checked this and there doesn’t appear to be any work in my home area.
Kind regards

Re: No mobile phone service

Hi Bronia,

Can I ask some questions?

What model of phone do you use?

Does the phone indicate no signal?

Are any errors / messages displayed?

Regards

Richard

Re: No mobile phone service

Hello
I have an iPhone 7.
It states no service.
Sky wifi connection is working.
I may get 1 bar on an evening sometimes which allows me to use phone at home.
I live in a village and expect bars to fluctuate but it’s never been like this.
Kind regards

Re: No mobile phone service

Hi
To me that indicates you live in a poor signal area.
Mobile networks use more than one frequency band to deliver the signals.
Typically the lower the frequency the better the indoor coverage is.
EE mainly have access to higher frequency bands which leads to poor indoor signals.
To improve indoor coverage the phone networks introduced WiFi calling.

Plusnet mobile does not support WiFi calling or 4G calling.
These are available on other providers including EE.
EE have one low frequency 4G band which provides better coverage but can only be accessed by phones and networks that support 4G calling.
As Plusnet mobile does not support calling on 4G - no access.

As you have an iphone it will support WiFi calling and 4G calling on any of the UK Networks.
I would suggest you transfer to a provider that supports WiFi and 4G calling.

For example check out: 1p mobile (on EE) , Sky mobile (on o2), Voxi (on Vodafone), Smarty (on Three).
Apart from Sky, they offer 1 month contracts.

Richard
