Re: FIFA 14 Crazy Input Lag - Please Help

Ok, how about packet loss and high ping/latency at Plusnet's end, forget about the EA servers, look at the UOtrace below, there is something clearly wrong with BT/Plusnet network and infrastructure.
100% packet loss and high pings/latency, this is absolutely unacceptable service, and no one from Plusnet seems to give two hoots about any of the latency issues plaguing their paying customers. I for one will not be renewing my contract at the end of next month.
Uotrace attached, clearly showing fluctuating ping/latency and packet loss.

Re: FIFA 14 Crazy Input Lag - Please Help

Hi,
That trace is showing 0% packet loss.  The devices showing 100% are just ignoring your ICMP requests.  You can see that there is no loss, because the last server on the trace has 0% loss and the packets will have to have traversed every other device on the way to it.
The latency of 97ms isn't that bad either for a transatlantic ping.

Re: FIFA 14 Crazy Input Lag - Please Help

I give up, there is no reasoning with Plusnet, but before I go, riddle me this, why when I take my PS4 to my neighbours house, do all my issues of lag and horrendous gameplay miraculously clear up?, no lag, no dodgy gameplay, no stuck in treacle feeling, so that absolutely proves without a shadow of a doubt, that something is wrong with the BT/Plusnet network, if you continue to ignore this, more fool you, as myself and others will just vote with their wallets.

I'm not saying there isn't an issue, just that the traces don't show us anything.

Re: FIFA 14 Crazy Input Lag - Please Help

He's with Sky, not saying he's never had issues with Sky regarding his connection, but in regards to this routing and ea server error, there is no apparent issue there, as the game works as it should without input delay/lag. We're obviously connected to the same exchange, both ADSL-2 connections, but as Sky use their own equipment, it makes it apparent, that the issue lies with BT.

Re: FIFA 14 Crazy Input Lag - Please Help

It would well be our peering (E.g. level3)
Could you get a traceroute to the ea servers from his connection?

Re: FIFA 14 Crazy Input Lag - Please Help

Sky also peer with Level3 - their traffic to EA routes with L3.
But unless I am missing something here - why is the routing to EA's servers relevant? Surely it's the P2P connections that would be the issue?

He's talking about "offline mode" which I presume is not entirely local....

Re: FIFA 14 Crazy Input Lag - Please Help

I see...
And it's the same for other EA Games for the OP?
There's a BT Infinity user on the EA forums with Fifa 14 lag/freezing issues on his Xbox One. The same game on his brother's console on the same connection has no issues, which points towards an EA issue.

Which router are you using with fibre? The Plusnet supplied TG582N?

Re: FIFA 14 Crazy Input Lag - Please Help

Is there any chance you can borrow another console (same as yours) and try the same games on your connection? It would just be interesting to see if there's any difference.

Re: FIFA 14 Crazy Input Lag - Please Help

I have tried both the Plusnet supplied router and the Home Hub 3, there is no difference, and yes, the issue exists in FIFA both offline and online as the game requires a constant connection to EA servers. I find it shocking that these latency/lag issues have been ongoing for over a year, as there is a 60 page FIFA 13 thread, but still no acknowledgement of any problem or a solution to these issues.
I have been pretty happy with Plusnet's service up to a couple of weeks ago, before then, the service was good most of the time, but now it's impossible, if you use Plusnet's DNS servers, the service is even more shocking, slow page loading, timeouts, and horrendous lag.
Come on, Plusnet/BT, sort it out, or you will be losing a whole bunch of customers and prospective customers, who want a good solid connection with lag free gaming.

Re: FIFA 14 Crazy Input Lag - Please Help

As far as I'm aware, there are no issues with our DNS servers right now.    If you are seeing poor web performance, this points to a different issue?
Can you describe why you think there are DNS issues?
