Re: Port 2 speed limitation — need service moved to port 1 but blocked by incomplete BT cease

When you post a reply, there's a 'paperclip' icon just below the reply box. However if you are using a phone or tablet then you will need to select 'desktop site' in your browser settings for it to show

edit: i see you found it.

Difficult to see from the photo but a pin 1 connection fault would cause exactly the problem we have i.e a fallback to 100Mb.

Re: Port 2 speed limitation — need service moved to port 1 but blocked by incomplete BT cease

Sorry about the focus on the close up but that left pin is definitely squashed down. So, very well diagnosed. First thing tomorrow I will contact PN customer service. I will try to get a better picture but looks like I need a new hub.

@wohdivad yes, give support a call and tell them about the damaged WAN socket. If you dont get a positive response then post back and I'll see if I can get someone to expedite a replacement.

Re: Port 2 speed limitation — need service moved to port 1 but blocked by incomplete BT cease

It might be possible with some thought to bend the pin back up
Something like a paper clip might be able to lever the pin.
If you do try take the power out of the hub.
But as you have a working service it might be worth waiting for a new Hub.

Thanks but I think I’ll err on the side of caution to be on the safe side.

Re: Port 2 speed limitation — need service moved to port 1 but blocked by incomplete BT cease

Fix

The new hub arrive very promptly this morning and, no surprise, it works perfectly.  WAN speed 1000 Mbps and I record a speed of approx 138 on a speed test.  Spot on for a 145 contract.  Thanks again for all your help, and the other forum members' input of course.  Four weeks of grief sorted on a Sunday afternoon.  I am asking for compensation so wish me luck!

Yes it was the same cable, brand new today
Is there any way to contact Plusnet other than by phone? The reason I'm asking is that due to a temporary medical issue I can't actually speak at the moment

@Christopher_G

AFAIK its not possible to open a ticket (except for a complaint!) from the member centre and hasnt been for a long time!

In any case the problem has been sorted on @Slunnyboy s thread https://community.plus.net/t5/Full-Fibre/Full-Fibre-145-Speed-not-as-stated/m-p/2044442#M30640
