PPP LCP Send Termination Request [User request]

Folks,

Looking after my daughter's Plusnet fibre 40/2 connection, she previously suffered numerous disconnects whilst uploading, after a router fix by @bobpullen it appears to be more stable but she still suffers the occasional 'drop' as shown in the subject line.

The router log shows the following;

09:30:45, 19 Feb.	(5489424.620000) PTM over DSL is down after 8696 minutes uptime
09:30:45, 19 Feb.	(5489424.620000) PPPoE is down after 8695 minutes uptime [Waiting for Underlying Connection (WAN Ethernet 2 - Down)]
09:30:41, 19 Feb.	(5489420.720000) PPP LCP Send Termination Request [User request]

Appreciate this was nearly six days but what puzzles me is it appears to suggest a 'user request' for termination which was not the case.

What can cause this?

Geffers

Re: PPP LCP Send Termination Request [User request]

I think "PTM over DSL is down" indicates that the DSL disconnected, and what the PPP did when that happened isn't particularly significant.

Re: PPP LCP Send Termination Request [User request]

It just seems odd that the [user request] is 4 seconds before the PTM over DSL is down message

Or do you think that's just how the router handles it? What would cause the DSL to disconnect?

Although I've recently found a way that I can cause this event to occur whenever I want.....

.... it's actually nothing to do with us being the user that's requesting this drop.

Re: PPP LCP Send Termination Request [User request]

No, it is not us users requesting it. My HH5 does it every 3-7 days, although it once went for over a month without doing it!

The question is, "How do we stop it?"

The question is, "How do we stop it?"

And maybe "What causes it" would  be another good question

Re: PPP LCP Send Termination Request [User request]

Yes, I remember reading that post a while back and thinking "cop out".

The fact that the Hub one (basically a HH5) does it too tends to make me think it is a built in "feature" of the hub!

Re: PPP LCP Send Termination Request [User request]

You must be sitting on top of the cabinet with those speeds!Shocked

Yours is the Hub One version which uses slightly different firmware.

Does anybody know if is possible to change a HH5 to a Hub One?
