Re: Sudden Drop In Speed

I'd say it's highly likely you're on the 3db trial also .

Re: Sudden Drop In Speed

Hi there,

I've had a similar drop in speed.

Exchange SELBY is served by Cabinet 43.

Re: Sudden Drop In Speed

@RichardB, yes your cabinet is on the list so good chance you were on the 3db trial (although I doubt you are any more).

@Stim, currently the xDB trial is limited to Dorset/Somerset so your cabinet won't have been targeted.

Re: Sudden Drop In Speed

Thanks for taking the time to respond Bob. It is appreciated 🙂

The line "glitch" prompted me to set up a Raspberry PI running DSLstats (www.dslstats.me.uk) to monitor mu unlocked HG612 modem, then set up remote monitoring using mydslwebstats (www.mydslwestats.co.uk).

Both are remarkable I do not know how the experts managed to create them but I can see more than I could imagine re the state of my VDSL!

Any using these I can see my down stream is set back at the default 6 dB margin.

Cheers Richard

Re: Sudden Drop In Speed

@jamesanstee, you have been taken off Sad

AIUI, the xDB trials are reliant on a tactical DLM solution which was overridden when an underlying DLM policy change triggered a DLM reset.

It then took a day or two for DLM to establish that you were using g.inp-compatible kit and re-apply retransmission/remove interleaving.

I'm trying to see if there's anything that can be done to restore the 3db target but I can't guarantee I'll be successful.

Re: Sudden Drop In Speed

@bobpullen Looks like there was a resync at 7am this morning though looks as if the speed is on the increase again but not sure if it was caused by a new hub 5 type B firmware that was pushed out this morning.

Re: Sudden Drop In Speed

Hi Bob,

Suprisingly I had a disconnection at 7:30 this morning and my DS noise margin reduced to 5dB!

The synch speed increased from 74800 to 77780 or so.

Then at 12:30 we had a power cut and when power was restored the modem synced at 79999 (max synch rate I think) for the first time ever!

The DS noise margin is now 4.2 dB.

Either the modem synced before other house modems on my cab at 6dB and then the margin reduced when the rest resynced or

My line is on the trial again and the margin has been intentionally reduced by DLM....

I guess the next few days / weeks will reveal all!

Re: Sudden Drop In Speed

@RichardB @bobpullen You're disconnection happened around the same time as mine although my line is synced at 72Mbps but i also noticed my home hub 5 type B had a firmware update at the same time.

Re: Sudden Drop In Speed

Excellent, thanks for the updates chaps.

I was chatting to Openreach on Friday, looks like something positive came out of it Smiley

Re: Sudden Drop In Speed

It transpires that there's a ~weekly process that checks lines that have been loaded onto the tactical DLM system for changes and shunts them back over if anything's caused them to drop out of the database.

Seems that this is what happened in your cases, rather than any specific action off the back of my discussions with OR.

As the trial matures, it will be the routine DLM systems that are used instead, where I wouldn't expect this to happen.

Re: Sudden Drop In Speed

Ah that explains the observed behaviour!

Bob, thank you for investigating and advising via this forum 🙂
