Gap in service for internet connection?

I got switched off from my last provider(llu) , phone and adsl sometime in the early hours of Friday morning, I have phone back on now with plusnet, but I have to wait until the 28/11/14 until broadband is switched on, not sure if this is because i'm moving over to fibre?
if so to the above question, is this normal?
and if its normal, Why?
Can we also confirm what Centuary we are in too?
