This site can’t provide a secure connection

www.plus.net uses an unsupported protocol.

How to I get into this website - I am unable to access my account because of this problem

Re: Unable to access Plusnet website

Which operating system and browser are you using? - I have seen a number of Chrome users having this problem, because the browser is corrupt.

Re: Unable to access Plusnet website

I'm using Windows 10 and Google Chrome. But I only have this problem with the Plusnet website - I've not had any trouble with any other websites.

Re: Unable to access Plusnet website

Try uninstalling and re-installing the browser - or try another browser. As I said, you aren't the only one.

Re: Unable to access Plusnet website

You uninstall from the 'add/remove programs' section. I would suggest you download and save a new copy before doing that though.

Re: Unable to access Plusnet website

No, that doesn't work.

Following jab1's advice, I've tried accessing the Plusnet website in another browser (Microsoft Edge) and I've managed that with no problems. So I guess the problem is with Chrome, not the with the website

Re: Unable to access Plusnet website

Started happening to me too - nothing fixes it from deleting cookies/data, or reset settings or even a re-install.

Its Chrome on a particular PC (W11) - Edge is OK as is Chrome mobile or Chrome on a different PC. Its certainly not fixed despite the green fixed tick.

With no real fix, trying unsuccessfully by removing cookies becomes very time consuming on first visits to websites - I should have known better than to try to fix it in Chrome as its more likely a server or Windows issue.

Re: Unable to access Plusnet website

@jwsg Is your error exactly the same as the OP's - which is fixed?

I've never used Chrome, but I've seen reports of this error (and a similar one) on this browser previously. I doubt it is a server problem, especially given as you don't have the issue on other kit.

I can't do any fault-finding for you though - I don't use Windows.

Re: Unable to access Plusnet website

Using another browser as a work-around isnt really a fix - some issue is clearly still extant. A search on that error code points to a certificate mismatch between PC and server detected by, more than a fault in, Chrome, so is unlikely to be corrupt. Or it might be the PC end for instance after a Windows update but as the O/P mentions W10 and mine is W11 this seems less likely.

Re: Unable to access Plusnet website

IF the issue is only extant on one of your machines, then I would suspect an issue with that machine. As few people have mentioned this, my considered opinion, based on many years of experience, would be that the problem is, as I said above with the configuration of that specific computer, which  only you can investigate.

FYI - the issue is 'FIXED' for the OP, and piggy-backing on a topic so marked is not best practice.

Re: Unable to access Plusnet website

Sorry if it wasnt best practice posting here - I found this thread before two others reporting this same issue and its not fixed.

https://community.plus.net/t5/Tech-Help-Software-Hardware-etc/plus-net-won-t-open-in-Chrome/td-p/189...

https://community.plus.net/t5/Broadband/quot-This-site-can-t-provide-a-secure-connection-quot-error/... -

Chrome is the common factor just as in other cases of this error code found via Google, but multiple users here and failed attempts to fix by reset/re-install doesnt suggest corrupt installations - hopefully tech staff will spot these threads.

It is possible to inspect the connection with More Tools -> Developer Tools (with Edge for the main PN site that cant be accessed in Chrome) and although the cert, TLS version, and ciphers list differ between the main PN site and the forum which works OK there doesnt seem to be something obvious to help explain it.
