Possible, I suppose, @MisterW , but... - we are talking about Openreach/BT here. As we haven't seem the matrix, we are a little hampered.

So according to them there is no fibre yet although the rest of the village the other side of the exchange has it?

And we know fibre was laid in our road years ago and there is a small cover outside each house with a connection under it.

Having just checked all the addresses at the postcode GL2 7AF given in Post #34 above, there is a single address which shows 

Copy/paste;

FTTP is not available.

The exchange is not in a current fibre priority programme

WLR is currently available at the exchange

SOADSL is not restricted at the exchange

etc.

Edit: All addresses show FTTP not available

Couple of things.

Are you sure PN have migrated your websites to Greeby along with your email? Just double checking as you'll lose them when you move if they haven't.

It's never a good idea to post addresses on the forum but it did let me have a look at the Checker results myself. It's clear that although Full Fibre is coming all that's currently available to you is WBC SOADSL - this is the digital equivilant of ADSL. As previously stated neither PN or EE offer this product which is why you've been passed to BT (who probably had no choice but to offer WBC SOADSL as the parent company of OR).

I think the only thing left is why you might lose your phone number. Perhaps someone more knowledgeable than me can offer an explanation.

I would ask BT that if you do lose the number is it avalable to port to a VOIP provider. If it is, then have a think about this. You should be able to get internet from BT without their Digital Voice service but once again others might confirm.

I didn't think that any accounts with webspace had been migrated yet. AFAIK the first tranche starts 6th Sep...

However I have a very old (simple) webpage which I can still access yet I've been migrated - a couple of months back.

Yeah all my websites and emails are now handled by Greenby due to the number I'm paying £60pa. PN used to sent me emails to say I was over my 25mb limit for my websites and I had to say I'm with Greenby now and after a lot of toing and froing they agreed I had in fact had moved and that their system was automatically sending out threating emails!

Gigaclear keeps dropping invites to have full fibre 900 Mbps, for only £29/month.

We will still be copper and they said it will just be a switch over at the exchange and the rep couldn't guess why it said at the end we'd get a new number, seeing as that was one of my first question and she said we'd retain our original number.

it sounds like you may need a "proper" host rather than Greenby for £60 PA.

What Gigaclear are telling you doesn't sound likely to me.

So, neither email nor webpages will be a problem when you move. One good piece of news.

Gigaclear is indeed available for your area. However, they do a fibre install with boxes on both an external and internal wall. See

If you move to them you may be liable for PN Early Termination charges. The other thing to note is that if OR Full Fibre shows up in the future (it's planned) and you decide to move to an ISP using that network then a second set of boxes gets installed.
