Re: How Long Does It Take?

Now one step closer to getting full fibre... The team have turned up this morning to do the small dig, install the ducting and pull the fibre to my property.

If they get this all completed satisfactorily today will I be able to get the connection date moved forward from the 27th October?

Re: How Long Does It Take?

That depends on installation engineer availability.

@DerekW

They might not necessarily pull the fibre to your property but run a pull cord, this is what happened to a family member.

Re: How Long Does It Take?

There is a pull cord already in the pit outside my property

The job description I was given from them is to do a small dig from the pit to the side my property, roughly 1 to 1.5 metres, install ducting and pull the fibre to my property.

The fibre equipment is already installed in another pit on the opposite side of the road which is where I will be connected to.

Re: How Long Does It Take?

Well it is all but done now, dig/ducting installed and fibre cable pulled to the property.

So would I be able to change the connection date to an earlier slot? - At the moment it is set for 27th October

Re: How Long Does It Take?

Sorry John, I didn't see your earlier post.

I did a quick check myself and there is no earlier availability showing, unless PN are able to do anything?

Re: How Long Does It Take?

@lahbrannan1  sorry for the tag

Is there anything you can do from your end to bring the date of my connection forward?

Currently it is set for 27th October for OR to come and connect me - if it is to much trouble to do then no worries, I'll just leave things as they are.

I can't believe how excited I am to finally get full fibre 😁

Re: How Long Does It Take?

Well there you go... Just took a call from Openreach who said now all the works had been complete would I like an earlier appointment than the 27th October!

I of course said yes please and they are now coming on Monday 6th to connect me 😊

Happy days!

Re: How Long Does It Take?

Not long now, tomorrow is fast approaching 😁

I am assuming once the OR engineer has done the necessary that my full fibre will be ready to use from that point on?

Or is there some kind of time frame for the switching off of the old service and the turning on of my fibre connection?

I have been a busy bee 🐝 this weekend installing some conduit along the skirting and running a cat 7 cable from the ONT to where my new router will be situated.

Re: How Long Does It Take?

For me it was instant, as soon as everything was connected up the Hub two (as used then) connected and I had the speed for the product I ordered, no reboot necessary.

The excitement of the extra internet speed lasted as long it took to me to say 'this is faster', but you have had a tortuous  journey to Full Fibre, which changes things

As it should be, @Dan_the_Van  - but we have heard some strange stories. 😁

Re: How Long Does It Take?

Sad times, no full fibre for me today ☹️

The engineer was not getting a light signal so called on an "expert" who came out and did some tests who conformed all had been done correctly my end.

He stuck some "light pulsator thingy" onto the ONT end and they both went off somewhere to do some checks.

Long and short of it is that there is some kind of issue at the exchange end that needs sorting.

They said they would report this back but could not give a time scale as to when the problems would be fixed.
